Arsenal and Mexico striker Carlos Vela will most likely have to sit out his National side’s final game of Group A, against Uruguay, next Tuesday because of a hamstring injury.
The 21-year old was full of energy and determination in the first part of today’s game against France but had to prematurely abandon the match after suffering a hamstring injury which will probably force him out of next week’s game.
This new injury will come as a huge blow for the youngster who revealed on Arsenal TV Online how much he was waiting the World Cup Finals to show what he can do on the International level. Besides, Vela’s season last year has been very disappointing due to minor injuries which prevented him from making it into Arsene Wenger’s regular eleven.
On Thursday, the Mexican side produced a top class display of quick football and tenacity to battle past a demoralised French team as they will now prepare to face Uruguay to secure their place in the Last 16 of the tournament at the expense of Raymond Domenech’s squad.
Speaking on his injury, Mexico coach Javier Aguirre said:
We still have to wait for the confirmation from the doctor with a more detailed examination, but from what he says it’s a muscle injury.
