Arsene Wenger’s injury update: Nicklas Bendtner and Denilson

The official season is yet to start for Arsenal yet manager Arsene Wenger is already facing injury and fitness level problems.
Speaking on Tuesday, the Frenchman revealed that 22-year old striker Nicklas Bendtner will miss the first game against Liverpool at Anfield and how no return date has been set on his comeback. Fortunately, midfielders Abou Diaby and Denilson should be fit for the Gunners’ last pre-season friendly and the first Premiership game on August 15.
Wenger also confirmed what he said last month and that’s how players need at least four weeks off after the World Cup Finals, reason why Holland’s Robin van Persie and Spain’s Cesc Fabregas could also miss the trip to Anfield.
Arsenal will be delighted to have seen strikers Marouane Chamakh and Carlos Vela score against SC Neusiedl 1919 and to see a Jay Emmanuel-Thomas in brilliant form as the three of them could be needed when the season kicks off.
Ahead of the Premiership start, Wenger said:
Bendtner will not be available for the start of the season. We don’t know [how bad it is].
Denilson should be [fit] – maybe not for the Emirates Cup but for the Warsaw game and Diaby as well.
Fabregas and Van Persie are due to come back on August 5 and from then on we will see how much build-up work is needed physically and as well how they have recovered mentally from the World Cup.
They might be short for the first game [of the season] but I don’t know, that will depend on the fitness work they have done during the holiday.

I hope Fabregas and Van Persie make it aginst liverpool, There are 2 key men, the playmaker, and the finisher out aginst 1 of the big four, Gutted they wont be at the Emirates cup this weekend as im going there.
Do you know what I like about your comment, it is because you recognise that Liverpool is still a big four team despite finishing 7th last season.
Wenger seems to have forgotten that and I suspect he will go into the game without Van Persie and Fabregas with no apparent reason for leaving them out. Yes they went to the World Cup final, fabregas sat his way through the tournament, somehow Van Persie survived the tournament with no injuries and was usually substituted in most of the games, telling us that they will be short is simply not acceptable. I appreciate that they must have exercised a lot to get to the final but that doesn’t mean that 35 days later, they are still in critical condition. Do you want to tell me Inter Milan will rest Sneijder, Everton rest Heitinga, Liverpool rest Torres if he recovers his fitness. Of course not.
Did he say that they’e not going to play? For gods sake, all he said is that they might be short. You just want to get on his back.
The game that confirmed we were out of the title race last season came against Wigan, he had a fully fit and fully rested Robin Van Persie raring to go – He introduced him in the 90th minute.
-We lost –
we lost both the title, the feeling of pressure we were giving Chelsea, who could only have been 3 points ahead if Arsenal won and of all things, i finally lost hope, after five years.
Without Fabregas & Van-persie against liverpool is another way of testing arsenal`s capality to compete for the trophy. A win will make us all happy
A loss on the first day of the season will be unbearable. Yes last season we beaten them with Craig Eastmonds and Fran Meridas but they are now bitterly disappointed and partly lifted by having probably the best manager in the league right now.
Wenger is really going crazy now, we practically have NO deoth in any position rght now, and in some post match interview h said he thinks we’re OK?????, come on now….. there are some blindede by faith Wenger fans out there(not to any offense), but come on are we that blind now that we think it’s OK to have 4!!!!! defenders leave, one who’s a big case of an injury prone player, and Wenger just brings in one Defender, and i’m then plunge in kids into the deep end against the bigger teams so us fans can critisize them. Come on we need players and fast.
This will be a very tough nut for Wenger but lets wait and see how he manage his young talents against liverpool.A draw would not be a bad one.
Again, looking at AW statement,we are not getting any informations regarding recruits!!!
Injuries? What’s new? the season has not even start and it is already “chaos” in the medical room…
As you look at the squad you will notice that we have less players than last year!!!
We have now 2 CB (vermelaen and the ex-lorientais… Sorry but djourou is not an option for me) and no sign of coming in…!!
Is he counting on the youth to make the numbers?
It seems that we are going down the same road again… Well what I am complaining about, we are used to it…
And we are surprised that Fabregas wants his ticket out!!
Anyway we still have a month for the transfert and let see if he can make us wrong… J just don’t see it happening… Again!
True, Wenger must do something quick, I know his faith in his players is a good thing, but everyone knows we always atleast get, 5 or more injuries each season.
Saturday is coming relax we see our formation by all means we need players but we need to bring in our own players in first otherwise what is the point of having an academy and yes we should go in to the fray against Liverpool without faber and vpr we need to show strength without having to use our wild cards our main objective is to defend well and keep the ball at bay and redistribute our attack from the past 3 games it shows we are able to do so if that strategy is kept i have no fear
My only worry is not having enough players to rotate for our absents or not having adequate skill in our cover
correct me if i am wrong, but as far as i remember, i have read an article a few weeks ago where bendtner says he has even difficulties getting up in the morning sometimes because of his groin!
a few days later wenger said “it’s not a big problem”.
and now he says nick won’t be available for the start and he doesn’t know how long it will take him to recover?
is this a poor comedy show or what?
I have to agree, I’m afraid.
Nick played through pain in the World Cup – it was obvious he would not be fit for the start of the season.
Shame.
yes, it’s exactly those statements from our manager that make me ask myself what is going on in his head. and making me lose faith a little more day by day…
well, at least it seems he is really trying to sign another CB. hopefully a GK too.
We need more than another CB and a new GK…
AW said that he was not kin to bring another offensive option…!!! I am sorry but I don’t want us to end up with Arshavin up front again…!!
What about a back up for Song? Unless he keeps Frimpong?
So many incertitude and unknown with Mr Wenger…!!!
We CAN NOT AFFORD another season like the one that just passed… SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE WON next year (and I am not talking about the 2 ridiculous domestic cups, we need the league or the CL)… That’s not a question of pride anymore but a necessity…
you are perfectly right. we need more. but i don’t expect wenger to buy more than CB and GK, maybe not even those. and that’s sad.
