After a long week of news on goalkeepers and defenders, we can partially shift our focus to a different area of the pitch: the midfield.
According to Italian website Calcio Mercato Web, Benfica’s Hassan Yebda is being monitored by Serie A club Napoli as well as Arsenal in England and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim of Germany. The player revealed how he will soon play for a big club, although he opted not to reveal his future destination.
The same website also reports how Arsenal need a goalkeeper, with Federico Marchetti of Cagliari a target. However, the article also mentions Fernando Muslera of Lazio as a player manager Arsene Wenger is keeping an eye on. The 24-year old was Uruguay’s goalkeeper in this summer’s World Cup Finals and was decisive in the quarterfinal match against Ghana when he saved two penalties during the penalty shootout.
And as always, we take a look at yesterday’s votes. Almost 2,000 votes with Emmanuel Riviere getting 561 positive votes with 721 of our readers believing Mark Schwarzer is a good option to solve our goalkeeper problems.
