Arsene Wenger on Sebastien Squillaci, future signings and injuries

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the backline of his squad is now complete after the signing of 30-year old Sébastien Squillaci.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, the Frenchman explained that the reason why he signed the former Sevilla centre back was because a new central defender was needed after the squad lost experience with the departure of William Gallas, Sol Campbell and Mikael Silvestre. Wenger said how in terms of quality and attitude, the Gunners are now safe at the back as well as in terms of experience.
When asked whether the Club is currently negotiating new signings the manager revealed that the situation is “dead” as he added how a number of players including midfielder Denilson and centre back Johan Djourou are all back from injury.
Wenger concluded by saying how playing Blackburn and their style of football is what makes the Premiership fascinating as you get to face different teams and different challenges and it’s up to the team to know how to adapt to different style of opposition.
Ahead of today’s early kick-off, Wenger said:
[On Squillaci] First of all because we needed a central defender and then because he is quality, he has experience, a good attitude and I believe with Koscielny, Squillaci, Djourou and of course Vermaelen and also Song who can play there we have the needed number in quality and attitude.
We lost some experience with the departure of Gallas, Campbell and Silvestre, players who were important in the dressing as well and that’s why I believe one player at the back with experience is important.
[On future signings] Our situation is quite dead, it doesn’t look like we will do any other business at the moment.
[On Injuries] We have Denilson back available in the squad. Bendtner is of course still out, three to four weeks, Nasri out for his cartilage and Ramsey as long-term. Johan Djourou is fit to be in the squad but not completely there yet whilst Cesc and van Persie are back normally.
[On Blackburn] We need to deal well with the strong points of Blackburn, we need to as well dictate our style to Blackburn, that’s why I believe we have to be committed and focused.
What makes the Premier League so attractive is that every team gives you a different challenge and you to adapt and at the end of the day quality and intelligence is being capable to adapt to every different style.
