Arsene Wenger: Transfer business is dead but maybe not finished

With the transfer window closing this evening at 1800BST, there is only one pending question for Arsenal: will they sign a new goalkeeper?
According to manager Arsene Wenger, transfer business at the Club is at the moment dead although he did admit how it is maybe not finished. It is of course not easy to understand what the Frenchman means by his remarks but Fulham manager Mark Hughes did reveal how the Gunners made two official offers for goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer which were rejected by the Cottagers.
Marouane Chamakh, Laurent Koscielny and Sébastien Squillaci are Arsenal’s summer signings for the new campaign with the Moroccan already showing how important he will be for the Gunners after doing incredibly well in the first three games of the season.
Koscielny, 24, also had a very good start to the season although questions were raised on his defensive capabilities after failing to block El Hadji Diouf in Saturday’s game against Blackburn. Squillaci, on the other hand, is set to make his debut at the Emirates against Bolton when the Premiership resumes after the International break.
Ahead of the last day of transfers, Wenger said:
It is dead at the moment. But maybe not finished.
At the moment I would say, as it is today, it is finished.
