It’s been one of the most discussed issues of Arsenal’s summer transfer window yet Mark Schwarzer was and is still a Fulham player.
Having joined the Australian national side for a camp in Europe, the 37-year old opted not to talk about the possible move to the Emirates, explaining how he prefers to say nothing rather than say something wrong. According to reports, two offers were made by the Gunners to secure the services of the goalkeeper but they were both rejected by Mark Hughes’ Fulham.
Meanwhile, Australian team-mate Lucas Neill believes a move to Arsenal would have been the perfect reward for an “ultimate professional” like Schwarzer although according to the Galatasaray defender, he will still shine and improve at Fulham.
When asked about Arsenal, Schwarzer said:
I would rather not say anything, I would really rather not say anything because otherwise I might say something wrong.
On his team-mate, former Blackburn and Everton centre back Lucas Neill said:
He is the ultimate professional.
He deserved to go to a club like Arsenal. But equally he will thrive under Mark Hughes at Fulham.
