Arsenal reserve goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski believes the Carling Cup is his golden opportunity to show what he can do and make it into Arsene Wenger’s first eleven.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online after the 4-3 Reserves win over Blackburn Rovers at Barnet’s Underhill on Tuesday, the 25-year old revealed that his objective for the season is to secure a regular place with the Gunners as he intends to do everything to take chances when these are presented to him so as to show how important he can be for Arsenal.
The Polish International believes the big game against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carling Cup will be his next chance to feature in goal and doing well in such a big game could convince manager Arsene Wenger to consider him for a regular spot.
Fabianski is yet to fulfill expectations at Arsenal as he concluded by saying how facing Tottenham is special for the fans although he will approach the game with the same excitement he approaches every other game.
Ahead of this season, he said:
My [target] is to challenge for a place in the first team. That is my aim and I am going to do everything to take my chances and be the number one keeper.
I will hopefully get a chance to do that in the Carling Cup game against Tottenham which is the earliest game for me to play in, where I want to show my best, show the boss that I’m able to play as the first goalkeeper.
Every game excites me, even tonight’s game [against Blackburn Rovers] was exciting for me, I always treat every game in the same way so there’s really no big difference although I understand it is a massive game for the supporters.
