New Arsenal defender Sebastien Squillaci played the full 90 minutes for the Gunners in the Reserves game against Blackburn Rovers and is looking forward to make it into the regular team.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online after the 4-3 win, the former Sevilla centre back explained how it was a hard game but with a positive outcome. The 30-year old, however, was left disappointed with how the defensive department conceded the three goals as he declared how they were more or less all avoidable.
On his fitness level, Squillaci added how he is not too tired after his first game in an Arsenal shirt and will be working hard in training to find his form ahead of a long season. When asked if he’s fit to face Bolton tomorrow, Squillaci believes he is ready to feature although it’s up to manager Arsene Wenger to decide.
Having lost Sol Campbell, William Gallas and Mikael Silvestre, the Frenchman was a much-needed addition for Arsenal and will join Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Johan Djourou at the heart of the defensive department.
Ahead of tomorrow’s game, he said:
It was quite hard but we ended up winning the match and that was positive. I thought we played very well but unfortunately as defenders we conceded three goals and that’s a really shame especially since they were quite avoidable.
[Physically] I’m not too tired so that’s positive. I’m happy enough, could have played better, I am happy with the result but I think I have to work hard to find my form.
I’m of course [ready to face Bolton] but it does depend on the coach and the other players. I’ve got to work hard during training. I feel good physically but it depends on the coach.
