After suffering a surprise defeat against West Brom last Saturday, Arsenal bounced back in style with a 1-3 win way from home in the Champions League, against Partizan.
And, according to defender Emmanuel Eboue, the spirit is strong ahead of what could easily be described as a key game this Sunday against Chelsea. The Ivory Coast International told Sky Sports how the winning mentality is back and how important winning in Europe was ahead of the Stamford Bridge game.
The 27-year old struggled to secure a regular place in Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up as he explained how Chelsea’s defeat against Manchester City last week is not an indication of how big and powerful they can be as they can ease past you if you don’t approach the game with the right mentality.
The Gunners will be hoping to have captain Cesc Fabregas back in the squad although according to manager Arsene Wenger the Spaniard has only a “little chance” of featuring against Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
Ahead of Sunday, Eboue said:
We started very well in the league, but last Saturday’s defeat was a big blow.
But our spirit is strong, we came away from home in Europe and won 3-1.
Our winning mentality is back, and we really need that to meet Chelsea on Sunday.
[Chelsea] are a big and powerful team and are in good form, despite losing last weekend.
If you are not strong and ready against them, they will overpower and destroy you.
So we will be ready against them, we are very confident about that.
