According to midfielder Denilson, if the Gunners are to aim for the English Premier League this season they are to make sure not to give stupid points away as they did last season.
Speaking about his life at Arsenal, the Brasilian was full of praise for manager Arsene Wenger saying how he treats all players in the same way, regardless of how long they’ve been at the Club. Denilson also spoke about the training methods of the Frenchman, explaining how a lot of work is done with the ball.
On Arsenal’s title hopes, the 22-year said how he is convinced the Gunners can aim high as he declared how although losing games is normal, what should be avoided is to give away points stupidly.
The Brasilian also said how the Arsenal squad has enough quality to compete with giants such as Manchester United and Chelsea, saying how the Gunners are more experienced and more mature going into this season.
Speaking to FIFA.com, he said:
It’s not often you get a coach like [Arsene Wenger].
Whether you’re one of the more experienced players or one of the lads coming through, everybody is treated the same. That approach is better for the morale in the squad.
The exercises we do on the basics of the game are also noteworthy in that we always work with the ball, even when doing fitness work. It’s a good thing and helps us gain the confidence we need to play nice football.
[The title?] Of course you’re always going to lose games, but we have to cut down those losses and stop giving away points stupidly, which has happened in recent seasons.
We’ve got the quality and we’ve got a lot of responsibility too. Chelsea and Manchester United have that as well, but they’re different as they’ve also got experience. That said, I think we’re much more mature going into this season.
