One of the best players for Arsenal last season, midfielder Alex Song started the new campaign with a point to prove and a new haircut.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, the Cameroon International finally revealed what made him take the decision to go blonde as he explained how his wife noticed way too many players wearing dreadlocks on the pitch and asked him if he would be open for a change.
The 23-year old had no problem in granting the wish of his childhood sweetheart and went for what he described as a temporary change, which in a way, also reflected a change in the way he plays.
Sometimes lacking discipline, the strong midfielder is more and more becoming an adventurous element in the Arsenal midfield, helping the forward line with his movement and also scoring goals just like last Sunday against Manchester City.
On his hair, he said:
I was at home and my wife told me you need to change because when I watch the games I see so many players with dreadlocks, you just need to change. And I agreed. That’s why I tried something different.
I like it but I want to go straight back to my dreadlocks because that’s me, the dreadlocks, although right now I just want something different.
I am very happy, it’s good to change, I like to do it but again, I just need to go back to my dreadlocks because that’s me, my personality.
