Despite suffering back-to-back defeats, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes there is plenty of positives to take out of the defeats against Tottenham Hotspur and Braga.
With the Gunner set to face Aston Villa in today’s early kick-off, the Frenchman explained how Arsenal didn’t deserve to lose and how they were punished in the same way in both games. Wenger admitted how his side is to address problems such as conceding from counter attacking football but also how unlike what many believe his side is not facing a crisis.
Arsenal are only two points from the top of the Premier League with Wenger also believing that his side is in a string position in Group H of the Champions League.
The Frenchman ended by saying that conclusions should only be drawn at the end of the season and how at the moment there are a lot of globally positive things in the team.
On Friday, Wenger said:
We have to accept the fact that we lost the games but there was a lot of positives in both games.
I feel that in the last two games we were caught by the same problem, counter attack after a set-piece for us.
I believe when you lose two consecutive games people start to question your team but I’m quite positive, I believe there’s a lot of globally positive things in our team and we have to address some details that punished us in the two games but overall we have to keep building on what we have in a positive way and I am confident we have a great future.
If you put things into perspective we are in a strong position in the league, we are still in a strong position to qualify in the Champions League and what will count is what will happen from now until the end of the season.
