Yet again, Arsenal midfielder Alex Song not only helped his team with his strength and determination in midfield but also by finding the back of the net.
On target against Chelsea on Monday, the Cameroon International told Arsenal TV Online how the team was very happy for getting all three points against their London rivals as it was a way to show how the Gunners can beat big teams and also how they can do it in style.
The 23-year old also said how manager Arsene Wenger told the players to be prepared for the full ninety minutes before kick-off, to be strong and compact from the start and to play the ball sharp and quick with the midfielder adding how the players are to learn from the Chelsea win ahead of future games.
Song concluded by explaining what it means to score yet another goal for his Club as he confessed how he always tries his luck when he’s in the box and how he didn’t think twice to fire a left-footed strike after combining with team-mate Jack Wilshere.
After the Chelsea win, Song said:
We are very happy tonight because we did very well. Before the start of the game we didn’t want the same story because everyone was saying how when we play against good teams we don’t do well but today we showed we can [do it] and we like it when we play like we did today.
[Mental block before tonight?] The boss always trusts us for the job. Before the game the boss said to be ready for ninety minutes, if you show in the first minute that we are strong and compact we can win the game. Also to give the ball sharp and quick and by that we can score anytime. That’s what we did today, we did very well, we attacked and defended together.
We need to learn from this game for the future because we have more games coming up. Everyone now knows that we are ready for the fight for the league this year because this is very important for us.
All the time when I go in the box I just try [to score]. I think Samir gave me the ball, I played one-two with Jack, the ball ended on my left foot, I had a good opportunity to shoot and I scored. That’s very important, we know everyone can score anytime in the team.
