Arsene Wenger on Bacary Sagna’s injury and Laurent Koscielny’s celebration

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was visibly delighted after his side produced a solid performance to ease past Ipswich and reach the final of the Carling Cup.
Speaking after the game, the Frenchman explained the players were up for the job as they needed to be patient against a stubborn Ipswich side as well as careful not to concede. The Arsenal boss was full of praise for Paul Jewell’s men as he believes they defended well in both legs with great attitude and great spirit.
Asked about the head injury suffered by right-back Bacary Sagna, Wenger revealed the defender suffered a concussion, was sick after the game and will be kept in hospital for observation with the manager hoping to have good news tomorrow morning.
On a lighter note and answering a question on Laurent Koscielny’s goal celebration, the Frenchman concluded by saying how judging by the way he celebrated it could be that the player’s girlfriend is pregnant although he confessed he is not so sure what the centre-back meant with his gesture.
After the game, Wenger said:
Of course, the players were really up for it and focused. At the end we needed to be patient. You have to give credit to Ipswich over the two games, they defended with great attitude and great spirit and we needed tonight to be mature, calm, patient and of course not concede a goal. The fact we have stabilised our defensive record helped us to qualify.
It meant a lot for the squad, for the team, and I must say they deserved to be rewarded because they have an outstanding attitude and spirit. They are on a natural development process and overall I think that in the last four games we scored three goals in every single game and conceded one so we are efficient on both sides.
Sagna had a concussion. He has to go to hospital, he was sick after the game. He has pain at his nose but the most worrying is the concussion of his head. Hopefully we can get good news tomorrow. Maybe [Koscielny's goal celebration means] his girlfriend is pregnant? I don’t know. Something like that.
