He is according to many Arsenal’s best player in the history of the Club and recently inducted football’s Hall of Fame, Thierry Henry is still an important name for the Gunners.

Speaking about the Frenchman on Arsenal TV Online during the ceremony, former goalkeeper Bob Wilson explained you need to be amongst the best of the best to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and as a player and also as a man, the New York Red Bulls striker totally deserves the award with Wilson believing how he will be remembered for a long, long time.

In recalling one of Arsene Wenger’s interview, the 69-year old mentioned how the manager was asked who is the greatest, to which the Frenchman replied by saying how it is a rarity to have a player who can run the whole area of the pitch and score for his team and how Thierry Henry is one of them.

After failing to settle down in the Italian Serie A, Henry joined the Gunners and scored more than 150 goals before leaving in the summer of 2007 to join Spanish giants Barcelona.

On Thierry Henry, Wilson said:

If you’re inducted into the Hall of Fame then you’re talking about true greatness as a footballer, you’ve achieved and stamped your mark on the history of the game.

When I think of some other guys who have been inducted and you come down and say, ‘Thierry Henry inducted into the Hall Of Fame’, it’s absolutely 100% deserved and a lovely guy with it. The incredible thing is that he’s got his feet on the ground, speak to everybody, will give you time, sign autographs and the greatest thing one human being can give to another is time.

If you’re looking for true greatness you’re looking like Thierry Henry, like Dennis Bergkamp, extraordinary players who will be remembered way into the history of the game.

Arsene Wenger was asked in my presence the same question, ‘Who would you say was the greatest?’. I sneaked for Dennis [Bergkamp] but Arsene said, ‘No, occasionally in the history of the game you will get a player who is able to pick the ball up in the defensive third, go through the middle third, go through the attacking third and score a goal. I can tell you [Johan] Cruyff, [Diego Armando] Maradona, individuals like that are an absolute rarity and to add to that list you have Thierry Henry who is able to achieve that’.
