Kieran Gibbs on joining Arsenal and adapting to the left-back role

Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs revealed Wimbledon’s relocation as Milton Keynes Dons was the key to his move to Arsenal.
Left without a Club at the young age of fifteen, Kieran and twin-brother Jaydon accepted to move to North London after turning down a move when they were first approached to join because their mother wanted the two to concentrate on school. But when problems started for Wimbledon, the two opted to start a new adventure with a new Club.
With his brother leaving Arsenal soon after, Kieran was used in an uncharacteristic left-back role months after joining the Club as he confessed how knowing where he would play beforehand was a big help.
Back then, the-21 year old faced Sheffield United after Armand Traoré suffered an injury as he confessed how his objective was to do well and do his best to show that he can be a future asset for the Gunners.
On his early days at the Club, Gibbs said:
We played [Arsenal], as long as I was at Wimbledon, every season, like three or four times a season. I think it was from just playing against them [that they spotted me]. My mum was approached but [my brother and I] weren’t too keen on doing it then because we were still at school, in South London, which was the other side, it seemed a bit far and my mum wanted us to concentrate on school.
But when Wimbledon were turned into Milton Keynes Dons, we thought we might as well take the opportunity.
[The game against Sheffield United] was my first as left-back, I covered Armand [Traoré] because he was injured, I knew the day before as well so it was probably best that I knew the day before because I wasn’t too familiar with the position so I just tried to do the best I could.
