Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna believes the pressure is now on Manchester United after the Gunners closed the gap to only one point at the top of the Premier League table.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online after yesterday’s 1-0 win over Stoke City, the Frenchman explained how the players always focus on their objectives as he added that the Gunners will not give up as one of their primary targets this season is to be crowed Champions in England.
Asked about Sunday’s Carling Cup Final, the right-back explained that this is the type of game they have been waiting for throughout the whole season and how the players will give it their best shot to bring the Cup to the Emirates.
Captain Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and Laurent Koscielny are all doubtful for the final with striker Theo Walcott certain to miss the game after spraining his ankle in yesterday’s game against Stoke City.
After the win, Sagna said:
Yes, [the pressure is now on Manchester United]. We always want to focus on ourselves. Tonight we closed the gap, we’re only one point behind them so it will be difficult for them because we won’t give up, we want to finish as Champions and so we have to [keep] winning games like tonight.
We fought all year for this kind of game, we have the opportunity to bring back with us the Cup, it will be at Wembley, our fans will be there, we just want to win, no matter what it will cost, we just want to win the Carling Cup.
