At the age of 19, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is enjoying what any professional football player would dream of at such a young age as he declared he is ready for Sunday’s League Cup Final against Birmingham City.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online ahead of the game, the Englishman confessed tomorrow’s game is massive as a win would give the players the confidence they need to fight for their other objectives. And, according to the youngster, this Arsenal side is too good to go six years without winning anything as he added how Sunday can be the beginning of a long successful run.
Asked if he will be nervous for the game, Wilshere admitted he will be as it’s a Cup Final as he added that one player who will be relaxed as if it’s a game in the park is goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, by him described as the “special one”.
The 19-year old concluded by again highlighting the importance of Twitter, a valuable channel to keep in touch with the fans as he promised to upload pictures this weekend to share his Carling Cup adventure with his 270,000 and counting followers.
On Friday, the youngster said:
[I'm having] the best season I could have asked for. I played for England and now I’m back to represent – if I play – my Club in a Cup Final. It’s massive, it’s what I want to do at this Club, win trophies. If we win [on Sunday] it will give us confidence going into the rest of the season.
But not just that, it’s been five years since we won anything and this team is too good to not win things and that’s what we want to do and we hope it can start on Sunday.
[Wojciech Szczesny] is the special one, he’s never nervous, it’s like he’s playing in the park [but] it’s a Cup Final, I’ve been watching Cup Finals since growing up so I’ll be a bit nervous for the game, definitely, it will be a big day for me and my family on Sunday.
[Pictures on Twitter?] Yes, definitely. I’m going to take a picture of a couple of tickets, from the coach on the way, there will be a couple of pictures, yes. [Twitter] is good, you have to get the negative and positive from the fans, it’s good to get their opinion on things and they enjoy it as much as we do.
