Squillaci: Why today’s game will have a big effect on the title race

Arsenal defender Sébastien Squillaci believes today’s FA Cup game against Manchester United could have a big effect on who will go on to win the Premier League title.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, the Frenchman started by explaining that the Gunners could have maybe qualified last Tuesday against Barcelona had the referee took different decisions during the game or had striker Nicklas Bendtner took his chance in the dying minutes of the game.
And on today’s game, the 30-year old said that it’s always important to send a strong signal when facing a team which is so close to you in the Premier League table as it would be a psychological boost ahead of the last months of the season.
On Friday, the former Sevilla man said:
Of course during the [Barcelona] game they were the better side but when you look back we could have a better result and gone through if only we got the better of the decisions from the referee, especially the second booking for Robin which was a real shame.
And then of course Nicklas Bendtner, if he scores when he was through on goal that could have changed the game.
[Saturday's game having a big effect on the title?] Yes, of course. When you play against a team that’s around you in the Premier League, it’s always good to impose yourself on them, whatever the competition. And I do think that a win on Saturday would give us a psychological boost.
The Premier League and Cup are different competitions but it goes without saying that a win is a win and we are well capable of going there and winning, but it won’t be easy.
