Arsenal have confirmed that Switzerland International Johan Djourou will miss the rest of the season as he is to see a specialist on Thursday.
The Swiss Football Association said this morning that the shoulder injury suffered by the 24-year old is less serious than feared on Saturday and announced by manager Arsene Wenger as after a long exhausting day of examinations the centre back had hope that his season is not over yet.
But, according to BBC, the North London Club have reiterated their belief that the strong defender will not feature in the last ten games of the English Premier League hence confirming what Arsene Wenger told the media on Saturday evening.
Djourou has been one of the most solid centre backs for the Gunners this season after successfully recovering from last season’s knee injury but was stretchered off during Saturday’s Manchester game after colliding with team-mate Bacary Sagna in the final part of the 2-0 defeat.
The statement released by the Swiss Football Association follows.
The shoulder injury to Johan Djourou is less serious than feared on Saturday and announced by the coach of his club. The Arsenal defender and member of the Switzerland national team was submitted to thorough medical examinations on Monday. At the end of a long exhausting day, Johan Djourou had new hope that his season is not over yet.
