Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn was full of praise for ex-legend Dennis Bergkamp as he described him as an absolute sensational player.
Attending the annual Premium Members Q&A at the Emirates Stadium, the Englishman explained that the Dutchman was the best ever player he played alongside as he was not only a brilliant goalscorer but also a striker with vision, possessing the ability to pick the right pass at the right moment before anybody else could predict it.
Winterburn, 47, concluded by saying that it was an “honour and a privilege” to play with the Dutchman who joined the Gunners from Inter Milan in the summer of 1995 and played more than 300 games for Arsenal.
On Bergkamp, he said:
I’ve said many times since I left this football club that Dennis Bergkamp, in my opinion, was the best ever player that I played with at Arsenal Football Club, absolutely sensational.
Not only was he the scorer of wonderful goals but his craft, his ability to see the pass before anybody else saw it, was absolutely amazing. I’ve always said on many occasions that it was an honour and a privilege to play with him, I just thought he was an absolutely amazing player.
