Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere believes the Gunners have plenty of leaders who can lead them to the English Premier League title this season.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online after last Saturday’s two all draw away at West Bromwich Albion, the 19-year old explained that midfielders Samir Nasri and Aaron Ramsey as well as striker Robin van Persie were all brilliant against the Baggies as he added that the players needed great character to come back from two goals one, which they did.
Asked about the fans who supported the players from start to finish and his decision to throw the jersey at them, the Englishman said that they are brilliant, loud both at home and away and always singing the players’ names, which is just what they need.
Wilshere concluded by saying that the players still believe they can go on and battle past Manchester United for the title as the Red Devils need to pay a visit to the Emirates on May 1 and that is when the players will need the support of their fans.
On Saturday, Wilshere said:
We’ve got great leaders out there, [Samir] Nasri was brilliant today when he went in the middle, [Aaron] Ramsey on his first game back I thought he was brilliant.
We got great leaders out there, Robin [van Persie] was good and we got great character in the team and we showed that today.
[The fans] have been brilliant. Everywhere we go they are loud, brilliant, singing our names and it’s like the 12th man. We really feel that they are behind us any minute and hopefully they can keep it going. I threw my shirt in the end because they deserved it.
There is massive belief in the side. Manchester United still have to come to the Emirates so we still believe can do it, that’s the main thing. Hopefully the fans also believe we can do it because we need them behind us as well.
