Sebastien Squillaci: I’m working hard every day to be competitive

Arsenal defender Sébastien Squillaci believes the Gunners can go on and win the English Premier League, provided they stop making little mistakes.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, the Frenchman explained that the players are to stay focused on the job, stay close to leaders Manchester United and then hope to get all three points when the Red Devils travel to London to face the Gunners on May the first.
On his first season at Arsenal, the 30-year old said that it wasn’t easy to miss pre-season but how he managed to settle down without any particular problems, adding that he is working hard every day to be competitive.
Ahead of the last nine games of the season, Squillaci said:
Yes, of course, [the team has the ability to go and win the league], I think that we all know that the margins are small. We have to stay focused and stay on track.
As I’ve said before we have to keep winning, picking up the three points, cut out the little mistakes and we still got Manchester United to play at home which will be a very important game.
Lots of teams have got away games too, it’s not going to be easy but I think that we’re capable and we have got a great chance. I think we’ve got to be aware that we are capable of winning the title and myself and the team are convinced of it.
[My first eight months at the Club?] I played a lot straight away as soon as I got here. I missed pre-season and that’s never easy but there you go, you have to adapt to that. The English league is a lot different to the other leagues I’ve played in but after that start it didn’t go too badly. As I said, I’m working hard every day to be competitive.
It’s difficult to say [if the Arsenal fans have seen the best of me yet]. As I said I think my performances have been good but I’ve got to keep working hard and give everything to keep up my form. You can always do more, I still want to do more and that means winning a trophy for Arsenal.
