Maarten Stekelenburg, “If Arsenal make an offer, I will leave Holland”

With the summer transfer window fast approaching and Manuel Almunia in goal for the Gunners, it is no surprise for a goalkeeper to be linked with Arsenal.
According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg is ready to leave his country and move to England if Arsenal make an offer this summer.
According to the report, Serie A giants Juventus have identified the 28-year old as the one to replace Gianluigi Buffon in goal for next season but as the “Bianconeri” will not qualify for next season’s Champions League, securing the services of the 28-year old will be very difficult for the Italians.
Stekelenburg’s price tag set by Ajax is of €12m which is unlikely to be met by the Gunners who will have Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski back for the new season and Vito Mannone as third goalkeeper after the Italian signed a new long-term contract with the Gunners last year.
On his future, the 28-year old said:
If Arsenal make an offer, I will leave Holland.

Well, I remember Wojo claiming that he wanted to go, and not signed a new contract as he considered himself goog enough – which is true – and wasn’t making the bench. And now that he has shown that he has what is needed, you think he would accept to go on the bench “again” and that this would not affect his development? C’mon, this is a joke. For years we have waited to have a good, great goalkeeper. And now that we have one… Lol, fans can be “stupid”. No offense, but I just think that this is stupid.
