Ray Parlour: Why Arsenal need at least three players next season

Written by Jeffrey on April 14, 2011 – 4:30

Arsenal Interactive - Squad SelectorRay Parlour

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes the Gunners have to sign three big players during this summer’s transfer window.

Speaking to the Weekend Sports Breakfast, the Englishman explained that it is not easy for Arsenal fans to see their beloved team crash out of three competitions in less than a month as it is a frustrating experience that comes only days after you see the team fighting for all competitions.

On the title race, the 38-year old added that it is very difficult for Manchester United to lose the lead at the top as they have the right players and the right manager to not feel the pressure and keep on going until the very end.

Believing that the Gunners desperately need three players in the summer, Parlour concluding by confessing that he thought Arsenal were going to win the Premier League title this season but how they again failed when it mattered the most.

Ahead of next season, Parlour said:

I’m sure a lot of people are frustrated at the moment if you’re supporting Arsenal. It’s one of those situations we’re in such a great position, not so long ago we were fighting for four [trophies], and suddenly now it looks like they’re out of every one.

I can’t see Manchester United losing it now with the players they’ve got, with the manager they’ve got and it’s disappointing, there’s no doubt about that.

I really fancied [Arsenal] to win it this season, I thought they had enough to push it all the way but we’ve just failed again, [fallen at] the last hurdle.

I’m a big Wenger fan, I played under him for eight years, [there are] big, big decisions to make.

I think he needs to go out in the summer now [and buy], Arsenal need to give him money and he needs to buy three big players, there’s no doubt about that.

  • ArsenalFC says:

I think we should not buy players.Scott Parker and Aguero would be good but no, we should stay true to ourselves. Almunia,Denilson and Rosicky will leave.Ramsey and Vermaelen will be like new signings. We should promote Lansbury and Botelho.Frimpong and Diaby will cover for Song.We have to keep our best players in the summer and they will be a year more mature next season.Nasri and Clichy=new contracts.Fabregas=no Barca.Ryo Miyaichi on loan again. I think there are plenty of youngsters that have the potential to make it in the next 5-6 years like Afobe,Bartley,Henderson,Aneke,Angha,Coquelin,Gnabry,Toral,Monteiro,Jeffrey,Jenkinson,Gallindo,Bunjaku,Wellington,Jebb,Akpom,Ozyakup. We do not need to buy players for the next few years.Just keep them together.

    • Archimedes says:

Sure but how many are non-crocked, world-class though? It is bad u have to rely so heavily on an 19 yr old. Where are the rest?

      • Kay-Bloggo says:

Arsenal FC are you serious? Stay true to ourselves? We have done that and tried nurturing an academy into full grown professionals for the last 6 years…..Are you now suggesting that we wait another 6 years for the next generation of youngsters? Is that staying true to ourselves?
Its obvious that “staying true to ourselves” means living in lies to ourselves as we are not and have failed to match up to being real champions…adding the much needed experience and professional proven mettle which we so desparately need is an urgent priority….. We cannot afford to wait another six years.,..Why can we not invest in proven players and have the youth grow into the team as the RVP and Fabregas intake did? That will surely not ruin the youth team by any means but povide them with the much needed professional mentors and leaders who will assist them develop into quality players..Its ludicrous to insinuate that we should stay true to our beliefs at such a stage…

        • febs4 says:

God bless you man. Nice point i think Arsenal FC wish to wait for more Generation to come before start start winning trophies.

        • Paul N says:

If you are nurturing a team then it will take time, if you are not willing to wait then so be it. The team has been growing for six year and I can see that we are getting closer. People predicted that we would not even be in the top4 4 but here we are with a chance to win the PL, no matter what Parlour says. I actually think him saying we need 3 “big” players is absurd. Why, when we can see the improvement of the team. I am not against buying but I can surely see the blow wow improvement.

Even with this team that is still young regardless what people say, we beat the best and are in a shout of the title. These same youngsters have kept us in the CL yearly, yes, even during the nurturing process but somehow we refuse to give them credit.

We dont need a pile of players coming in, this team will mature and be great.

    • Umoh Ekwo says:

Arsenal should buy three new established players as one of their great players Ray Parlour just suggested, if their hope of wining any trophy next season is to be sustained. There could be cautious but gradual introduction of the youngsters when they meet the standard of the first team. Any thing short of that will keep us waiting for another season.

    • Amir says:

We said this 3 years ago too. I think we need good competition in all positions. It will work out well because in a top club like this we play so many games. Everyone will get a chance to play and rest.

  • DanAust says:

He’s right. We need a leader at the back whether its an experienced goalkeeper or centre back; a strong Defensive or B2B midfielder and at least a attacking player who can create something out of nothing be it a winger or striker (or capable of both)

Experienced leader at the back – Buffon or a Mexes, Thiago Silva, Pepe, Cahill
    DM/B2B – Yann M’Vila
    Attacker – Hazard or Hulk

    • Ken says:

Dan an experienced leader at the back! I think we already have. TV5 will make Vidic look like a joke next season. He is the really leader we have missed and him back will be like a double signing! And Wojo commanding his territory will make our defence the best.
I honestly think we only need to buy a quality striker as cover for RVP
and offload NB52. Karim Benzema fits our bill and with the kind of mid field we have he can easily score 20 plus goals every season.

      • Stillagooner says:

I agree. We really don’t need anybody next season if you really think about it. Nasri has pleant of goals in him if you play him in the right position, right now he’s too wide. Frimpong has been very impressive the few times I’ve seen him and Diaby has more skill in his little toe than Song has ever dreamt. We shouldn’t sign players just for the sake of signing them but then again, Denilson has to find another team but as long as he puts on an Arsenal I will support him.

        • Chris says:

I 75% agree. We have a quality squad but we still need signings.

(External solution) A left-back with Gael Clichy on the bench. If not happy to sit there, Kieran Gibbs can be his backup. If he accepts that Kieran should be loaned out.

(External solution) A striker, and sell Nicklas Bendtner. Nicklas will not stay another year to play on the right or stay on the bench, we need a powerful man who can shield the ball and be Robin’s partner in a 4-4-2. Marouane could be the one, but he’s yet to prove it.

(Internal solution) Sell Andrey Arshavin and bring back Carlos Vela for the left wing.

(Internal solution) Promote Szczesny to #1, sell Manuel Almunia, Lukasz Fabianski as #2, Vito Mannone as #3.

(Internal solution) Henri Lansbury and Emmanuel Frimpong with the senior squad, on the bench. Sell Denilson. Alex, Aaron, Henri, Emmanuel, Abou, plenty to choose from in midfield.

(Internal solution) If Cesc leaves, Samir can be our central brain in midfield with Theo on the right. If Theo is unavailable, Samir can play on the right with Aaron in the middle.

(Internal solution) TV and JD as centre backs. Of course it would be nice if we could sign someone like Gary Cahill but it would be a bonus considering our options.

          • Steve of Chiang Mai says:

Not sure selling Arsharvin to accommodate Vela, who just a bench player where he is…at the other end of the EPL, is a good idea. For all his supposed laziness and “dont care” attitude, take his contribution away this year and we are fighting for 4th not 1st!

      • DanAust says:

I know what you are saying, but considering the all the praise the younger players had for Lehmans leadership against Blackpool it is clearly something we are missing. OK TV is great for that I agree and we suffer without him and this further highlights the lack of depth we have. We used to have Toure and Gallas at the back taking charge, now without TV who do we have? Gallas may have been a jerk, he may have been divisive in the dressing room, but he was at least a leader on the pitch. I think we are worse off on the pitch with Squillaci then we were with Gallas. Off the pitch we might be better off but we miss him on the pitch.

Szczesny may not like playing second fiddle but he wont walk into a champions league team anywhere else in the world. If we got a Buffon or Schwarzer type, he’d still get to play fairly often and gain more top level experience then he would anywhere else, plus it sets the bar nice and high for him to strive for before winning the #1 spot of a real #1 not Almunia or Fabianski

I agree that we need a striker to compete with RVP, same with a more defensive/box2box midfielder to compete with Song. After we clear out the rest of the deadwood we will have enough spots for some of the youngsters to start pushing for game time too.

  • AussieGooner says:

I think it is important to read exactly what Ray is saying. He says we need three big players. Not three expensive players. I think even Wenger will know this. I think Scelacci will go. So there is a need for 1 player. A good quality central defender. Maybe Cahill or some gem Wenger will unearth. Ryo or Chamberlain from Southampton, as we have missed the pace and threat of Walcott when injured. Then there is the issue of missing Cesc when injured. That is the one we need as Wilshere cant do it all on his own. Bringing Nasri into the middle has been used at times but this only weekens us out wide and up front. Solution, Eden Hazard.

Whilst I agree with Parlour on this issue I disagree with him on the title race.

United must play Arsenal and Chelsea only a few days after Champions League outings. Also United will face blackpool on the last day who will be fighting for their Premier League survival. The title is still very much in the balance.

I feel the Goal Keeper crisis has somewhat been resolved with the emergence of Shezney.

Three players needed for next season, but not just yet.

    1. Cahill or Unknown Wenger target.
    2. Ryo or Chamberlain.
    3. Eden Hazard.

    1. 10-15 Million
    2. Already Paid or 10 Million
    3. 20 Million
    Total 45 Million

    Sold.

    1. Bendtner 8 Million.
    2. Denilson 5 Million
    3. Almunia 1 Million
    4. Arsharvin 8 Million
    Total 22 Million

    Total to spend 23 Million

These are the big decisions Ray is talking about.

    • Jk says:

Bentner and arshavin should stay. They are useful even if they aren’t the best. I think denilson almunia and squallaci should leave and be replaced with cahil and players from the reserves or who are out on loan like mannone and Lansbury.

      • Paul N says:

Squillaci is our 4 choice defender and has been playing well lately, he is good player.

  • khoune says:

    arsenal need:
world class and very sharp striker one more
very good defending midfielder or may be not ,if Diaby will improve his form to be good enough
if Djourou and vermaelen are fit for all of season, at least for against strong teams, that more centralhalf may not needed.
goalkeeper: if szczesny is good enough for the next season, then new signing may not need to consider, but who can be sure?
means arsenal must be stronger at striking, defendinf and goalkeeping performeces than used to be.

  • TheIceManCometh says:

Can anyone tell me how many world class players United has, besides Van Der Sar (and maybe Giggs and Vidic)? What about Liverpool (Suarez? Reina?)? Chelsea is easy, but they don’t as well with age. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter, and AC Milan are the only teams I can think of with more than three or even four world class players. This team doesn’t need world-class anything to win (it is already there). They needed some consistency in playing time (especially with the back five partnership) and they need certain players to actually step up when they are called on(compare Lehmann’s immediate contribution after Almunia getting hurt and Rosicky’s contributions when the team didn’t have Cesc; night and day). If anyone is signed, it better be a defensive midfielder (and please, not Melo) and maybe a winger to replace Andrey.

    • soccersurf says:

Rooney and Nani, Vidic, and they have leading goal scorer in premier league Berbatov as well as goal scorer with best minutes to goals ratio in the world Hernandez

  • arsenal fan says:

I honestly believe that there is nothing wrong with the first starting 11 arsenal players i truly believe it is the back up players that screwes us over eg denilson, diaby, rosisky etc we need more better back up players when fabregas, rvp, song etc get injured thats my personal opinion other then that im conifident in the goalkeeping department fabianski has improved so much this season, and Wojciech Szczęsny these two are future goalkeepers for us. the defenders are good Koscielny,Djourou and dont forget verminator i just reckon we need decent back up players thats my opinion

  • The BearMan says:

Arsene has to look at the entire squad and ask himself. Do I have three players available to me for each position. Two in the first team and one in the reserves. Players that are strong, versatile, skillful and ready to be called upon right now for first team action? Players that can compete right now at the highest level. Any player that will be ready in 5 – 6 years, is not ready for the 2011 – 2012 season.

I will have the Verm in my team any day, but is he over this injury hurdle? Until we see him back in action without any setbacks there is still a question mark? Arsene could not and did not use the reserves to best advantage this season.

I did not see hungry players in the B team this season. Players that stole the opportunity when there was an injury. I saw players who were contented to sit on the bench. We lost important games to teams Arsenal Reserves should have been handling. And I sat that not to belittle any team in the Premier league, but so strong must all three squads be?

The weakest areas in the team lost Arsenal major honours this season. How few points Arsenal got from free kicks, corners, dead ball situation? Arsenal creates more goal scoring opportunities that any other team in the Premiership, but how many goal scoring opportunities we missed. More than we put away! Why? Alex Song when he was at his best proved a major player for us. Who was there to fill that spot, when he was tired or injured? How I long for young Ryo to get his visa. He will certainly show a number of our players what hard work and desire means.

I want to see changes in the coaching teams as well? The system Wenger introduce calls for super fit individuals. Some of the lads we send out to represent AFC this season, my grandmother at age seventy five would out run them! That is a statement of fact!

  • Phillip says:

It is obvious that arsenal needs an experieced golie, one strong CB & a defensive MF. Next season will be crowned EPL champions, infact arsenal could have easily made it this season look at th silly points droped. Gunners 4 life.

    • Paul N says:

Why would we get another goalie when we have two young good one’s? Why would we get another defender when we have 3 excellent young ones and a decent older guy?

I dont get what is going on, do we just say what the media says? I think so.

Arsenal have the 2nd best defensive record in the PL and people believe we need changes or more players. I dont agree

  • Matt says:

I think we have currently have 4 world class players – Cesc, Nasri, van Persie, Sagna. I think Vermaelen would have been on this list too if not for the injury.
Arshavin used to be and sure on his day he is, but can’t be considered as world class anymore. Neither Bendtner or Chamakh have made the step up and at this stage that looks unlikely.
But I truly believe Wilshere, Walcott, Szczesny, Djourou, and maybe even Ramsey will become world class in their own time.
The rest have had their chance as far as I’m concerned.

For me we let go: Almunia, Denilson, Rosicky (will want playing time that he won’t get at Arsenal), and Eboue who is ok going forward but I don’t think he’s a defender.

    Sign:
    - A right full back who can actually defend as well as attack, and provide competition/cover for Sagna. Could well look young here as Sagna is aging. van der Weil anyone?? or maybe Coquelin will end up here.
    - Either a Central Defender who can play defensive mid, or vice versa. Vertoghen for example.
    - Or both a CB and DM. We are never signing Cahill because of his Englishness increasing what he is actually worth by 200%. Someone with experience (who is no flop) would be nice as most our CDs are youngish.

For DM, we do have Frimpong and Coquelin to develop and at least one should be able to contribute next season. But I still think we need some reliable cover for Song who has played a rediculous amount of football over the past 2 seasons. Experience may be the answer here as well, so as not to “kill” the mentioned young prospects.

At the moment it seems Denilson isn’t good enough and his time at the club may be up. I for one haven’t written him off completely, he’ll get his chance to contribute before the season is out so lets hope he can prove 99% of us wrong.
Diaby is another that divides opinion. Hot one minute cold the next. But Wenger has too much faith in Abou’s ability to let him go, which I don’t have a problem with. He is afterall 4th or 5th choice CM, and what team has a 5th choice CM better than Diaby? ……

I would love to see us sign Hazard though. Destined to be a great player.

    • Hunter says:

Sagna aging? He is only 28 which means he still has probably another 2 years in his prime. We need to keep the experienced players in the squad. Getting rid of all the experienced players is why we are so fragile when our backs are against the wall.

  • Mark says:

I think a Hazard-type player (fast with good skills for dribbling at defenders) + 1 experienced mature physical midfielder with good leadership.

If bendtner stays (+chamakh and walcott), and Vermaelen can come back (Miquel progressing), we don’t need players in these positions.

but i’d really like to see us get a mature vocal leader in the center of midfield who won’t necessarily start all the time, but can come on when we’re down and give us a lift. also, we lack a player like this who can guide and help develop the young players’ leadership abilities.

  • The BearMan says:

Let me say this to get us thinking. Should Man Who? win the treble they will be mentally stronger next season. Arsenal has to find a way to dent their confidence if not assemble a team that can match them for mental desire and for quality next season. However, they are not the only team that will prove a treat next season. Liverpool, Man C, Spuds, Newcastle, Chelsea even teams like Bolton etc.

Look here, contrary to what Wenger has said, it is all about finishing Top! Second place is for teams with no ambition and cowards. Any manager that is planning to finIsh 2nd place next season should be sacked immediately. Consider this:

    Right now Man U ‘know’ they are going to win the Premiership;

    Chelsea ‘think’ they can still win;

Arsenal ‘hope’ they might win; (if this or that happens)

The different mind-set between all three teams!

  • KL Gooner says:

All we need is another Thierry Henry. Though where we’ll find one, I have no frigging idea!

  • A wenger says:

All we need is a spine of talent and organisation.

Look at the top teams that win consistently they all have one and we don’t.

Wenger inherited a good one but has never replaced it.

Van der sar- rio/vidic fletcher/ carrick rooney

    Cech Terry essien/lampard drogba

    Us (now)

    Lehman kochelney cesc rvp

The first bit is too weak.

Bring George Graham in to organise the defence or promote steve bould.

    Enough said

  • The BearMan says:

What Arsenal needs is a few players in the first team other younger team members can look-up to. Players like T Henry, Berdkamp, Vieira, T Adams. Having players with a similar statue is what required right now. That mantle should not rest solely on Wilshire. Iron sharpens iron. Wenger weakens his squad when he adds players that are poor in quality. It says: the manage believes any has been will do! If he does not care why should I work hard.

There is a number of reserve players thinking, I am better than that clone in the first team and you know what? They are right! How has he made it? Answer: the managers standards have dropped!

The Arsenal brand will take a dent if we start to turn out rubbish!

  • Pat Rice says:

On the comment arsenalfc made, your statement sounds good in theory but practically we cant win anythng if we continue to rely on 19yrs and average players like diaby to perform week in week out, and on keeping the players to stay together, well its hard to keep players when you aint winning jack.

  • Sammy says:

What we need is a nasty player that distrurbs the rhythm of other teams and a favourite for the english referees and journalists ala Barton, Parker and et al. Ferguson and Chelsea use players that shout at referees and tackle players non stop with complete immunity from Referees. The journalists love it and the referees don’t show them yellow cards till they tackle the 10th time. A single tackle from an arsenal player is yellow carded the first time because of shouts from the English players and the sily fans. Till we have immununity of tackling a la the English players we will not win the premier league. For a player to be immune from yellow cards, he has to be English and so short of footballing ability but a legend for the English press. Those legends are the players that we see for the national team and it is so boring.

  • Willy young says:

    Players out

    Almunia
    Denilsin
    Eboue
    Bendtner
    Rosicky
    Squid
    Eastmound
    Watts
    Randall
    Hoyte
    Arshavin swop for Hazard
    Traore

Sign a world class pacy striker and quality DM and with Lansbury Frimpong JET Bartley promoted Ryo if visa allows we have a quality team we don’t need a keeper or CB

This possibly allows the board to gain more money that cashed out

Has Jenkinson signed that is cover for Eboue

  • akira says:

out: Almunia, eboue, squid, denilson, rosicky, arshavin, bendtner

is everyone lovin mvila just because we have been linked with him or is he actually any good . answer NO!

out: Almunia, eboue, squid, denilson, rosicky, arshavin, bendtner
in: neuer, papadopolus, cahill, mvilla, promote lansbury, hazard, benzema

the squad will be awesome trust me

  • Edward Nyakahuma says:

Briliant idea Ray. Infact we need four good talented players in the departments of Goal, Central def, Def. mid and stricker. There fore Alm, Squil, Denil and Bent-ner should be overhauld respectively without fear or favour and their experienced replacents thought of in the next transfer window. We are just fed up with the team which is not winning trophies because of careless thinking.

Use their sales off and some million pounds the American big invester what he might throw at table for this enticing project and we shall be there otherwise we are just tired.

  • mutabazi eric says:

I think AW will not let any player to leave this coming season as he used to say”he will maintain his young squard and biuld the belief with them together”
But some players who are 30 years old may find themselves out of the Emirates Stadium!
My concern is the technical team which need a very strong revolution:If Arsene Wenger can not be axed I need to se Pat Rice,The doctor and other tacticians to go out after many years of failure at the last minutes!

  • matz malaysian gunners says:

We would like to sell denilson, almunia etc..but the question is who want to buy them?

    • jonjon says:

      Bolton, Tottenham, Stoke!

  • The BearMan says:

If Arsenal truly wants to find such players and cannot find then allow me to give him a hand. This is not the forum for others are listening and benefiting who will beat us to the draw. Mr. Wenger could have my services just once.

Big changes needs to be made in the coaching team to see better results all round.

  • Michael says:

ONE PLAYER WE MUST HAVE AND THAT IS …..SEBASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER….HE WOULD BE THE BEST PLAYER TO SIGN !!!!

    • jonjon says:

Like him a lot but too expensive!!

  • tony says:

i think all we need to do is get rid of denilson and promote frimpong or coquelin and also sel bendtner. we need a poacher/fox in the box type striker like defoe, villa or roberto soldado of valencia. soldado or kevin gameiro will do just fine. sell bendtner and buy one of those 2. chamakhs alright and RVP is world class. we should also cash in clichy he is a bad defender and is lucky that his speed helps him recover when he gets terrorised by wingers. we should bring traore and botelho back and let them fight it out with gibbs. A skillful intelligent winger wouldnt be bad probalby a spaniard like, pablo hernandez of valencia, juan mata or pedro leon of real madrid but at the rate ryo miyaichis progressing hes should be at the emirates at the end of next season. so i doubt wenger will buy a winger unless he still plans on making theo a striker. As for defence i think vermalean will be like a new signing. koscielny and djourour are progressing fine and i also dont think squillaci is as bad as everyone says. reminds a bit of carvalho with his intelligent fouling and robustness. EVERYONE please bare in mind that wenger bought him in late august so squillaci didnt even get a proper preseason like kosc because wenger was being tight as usual. a young defender wouldnt hurt unless wenger promotes bartley and miquel to the 1st team. think miquel should go on loan. finally as for keepers. we should be alright fabianski as shown hes is good keeper with amazing reflexes. scenzny bar the cup final howler which was also partly koscielenys as played admirabely and is the best young keeper in the prem. 1st leg against barca him and wilshere best players for us. also vito mannone is a good thrid choice aswell.

    verdict
in: kevin gameiro/roberto soldado. a young defender or bartley or miquel promoted. botelho and traore. and coquelin and frimpong.

    out: clichy, bendtner, denilson.

  • realistic tony says:

agree with ray…..we need a strong spine….if you look at our best teams we had adams vieira etc…a strong spine means we can avoid collapses when we are 2..(or4) up!!!!.
A big centre back is absolutely necessary. Without one i can see the same dismal collapses as with injuries the squad centre backs are not good enough. We also need a goalscorer, RVP gets injured and anyway it cant all rest on him upfront. I like falcao, not everyones cup-of-tea, but hes very quick in and around the box…twice as reactive as chamakh and bendnter.
3 players of quality this season and we would be looking at a double of sorts.

    • jonjon says:

we should have signed suarez and binned off the injury prone RVP.

      • Gooner says:

No disrespect. But I think Luis is way off RVP standard. Yes injury prone but he is better the suarez when 100%

  • Cesar says:

    I hope someone reads this
The only player we need is a excellent Striker
Probably Falcao (FC Porto), Lorente (A. bilbao), Pato (milan),
    Just an excellent striker

    • jonjon says:

arsenal play 4-3-3 with 1 striker who are you gonna drop to play 4-4-2 because you cant buy a player like falcao or lorente and put him on the bench. instead bin off denilson, rosicky, diaby, and buy an effective CAM . HAZARD easy peasy.

  • Dean says:

    sell…
Almunia, squilachi, denilson, rosicky, bendtner and under performing reserves eg randall etc

    buy…
Sakho, m’vila/vertongen, hazard/mata, benzema, cissoko/vertongen (if clichy goes)

    loan out…
Miyiachi (if doesn’t get permit), Wellington, Lansbury( to prem lge), frimpong (to prem lge) vela (spanish league), bartley ( toprem lge) etc

    squad…

    Gk – schez, fab, mannone
    rb – sagna, eboue
    rcb – sakho, djouro

    • jonjon says:

like some of your signings but we have to be carefull not to bring too many unproven players in to the team at once HAZARD and CAHILL please.

  • elvi says:

we don’t need buy expensive player like hazard 20m, benzema 30m, neur 20.

this player can be good for arsenal but arsenal cannot afford more then 40m in total….

for me goal keeper is not big issue right now…wojo can do the job…n fabinski as 2…vito ..3…if wenger want to get then my choice would be Tim Wise from bundasliga ….he would not cost more then 10m he got very good experince at high level n can be good example for wojo.

there are so many players in europe who can be good for arsenal…i would choose…

DEFENDER= Adil remi and Vertonghen 12m each. …let’s not expect anything from tv5 when he return, if he still what he was b4 then that is very good news for us.

MIDFIELDER= Joey barton….would cost just about 6m… he is hungry leader…with strong spirit what we need in our team. he hardly get faked, as our A.song get very easly.

FORWORDS= lucas podaski….who do not need long time to shoot on goal…enough speed can play winger n striker….would cost 12m maximum.

Marko Marin/ Mussa Sow ….can be good additional also.

    sell….
    almunia 1m
    squillaci 2m
    bendtner 10
    eboue 5m
    denilson 10m
    daiby 8m
    rosicky. 6m

42m…………….from our dead n old wood players.

    • jonjon says:

      barton=thug
      remi and vertoghen=not proven
      podolski=not good enough

      Cahill, baines, hazard = trophies

  • jonjon says:

Lets start in goal SCHEZNY is the future that position is sorted he is a special talent.

Defence – We need a centre half my choice would be CAHILL partnered by VERM if he gets fit there arent many partnerings like that in the league. with DJOUROU and KOSCIELNY and MIQUEL as back up. SAGNA is class but this has not been his best season. CLICHY may go this summer leavin space for GIBBS that means we need to sign a left back a youngster no doubt. Thats it for me.

Midfield – Simple get rid of the non performers and bring in players that can make a difference.
FABREGAS, WILSHERE, NASRI, SONG, WALCOTT, RAMSEY, ARSHAVIN, MIYACHI, FRIMPONG, HAZARD, if that isnt enough goin forward you might as well give up supporting arsenal. ther are a few names off this list this will become clear later.

Strikers – RVP, CHAMAKH, BENDTNER, my choice for a 4th would be SUAREZ but as he is at liverpool i’d go for STURRIDGE if we can get him .

CAHILL, HAZARD, STURRIDGE and left back= 40M
DIABY, ROSICKY, CLICHY, DENILSON, VELA, ALMUNIA= 40M

    EASY PEASY

  • Jonah says:

Really I’d just be happy with buying Hulk from Porto or Falcao from Porto and Gary Cahill from Bolton. I don’t see us needing too many signings and there is no way we could get Benzema and even if we were linked he’d be about 20-30m knowing Madrid. Hulk and Falcao would probably be 20m each and Cahill about 10m? Just getting one of those would work with Cahill.

  • jason says:

For me we need a goal keeper, centre back and a striker.

This will be more than enough for me to win the league a quality striker is needed to step in with and for RVP if he gets injured next season.

  • fabulousFabregas says:

i think it should be this way.
    out-
almunia – i don’t think any of you want to see him wearing arsenal shirt next season and you know why.
arshavin – to chelsea or barcelona(only if he is lucky).
vela -he have talent.but i don’t think he is special.he will be sold or continue his loan at least.
squillaci – he fail to deliver.still trying to suit english football.and he looks pretty soft sometimes.
and fabregas – out to barcelona of course.in fact this is the very last transfer i want to see.but i just feel that it will really happen this time.his heart is simply not with us anymore.and nasri might be able to replace his role.he loves to play at centre by the way.and i simply hope that if cesc really go,the price tag would be above 40 m.in fact, his value is really more than that.
    in-
if arshavin and vela are out,the left fwd are very much needed.
the candidate to replace them is the young stars from marseille.i’m sorry,i cant remember his name right now.besides,if we are really lucky,we might try to buy gareth bale.i know it may sounds impossible, but with the qualities he had,he is the perfect candidate to replace arshavin.
jagielka – i hope we can get him this time.he is a very good player.and to pair him with vermaelen is really a sweet dream come true.
and maybe if we have extra cash,we may be able to get stekelenburg or neuer.they might be expensive.but they simply worth the price.and i really don’t think any fans want to be laugh again bcoz of goalkeeper’s stupidness.and as the old saying,we can’t win with a bad goalie…

  • Melvinio says:

    All we need is a defensve stalwart in d muld of carvalho,a bone crusha n d mf(as muci as i hate n.de jong,i’d luv 2 c him in n londön),a winga,and freescorin fw-pato.

  • Kevin from NJ says:

Do we really need to BUY 3 NEW PLAYERS? Lets think through this clearly….

    1. Our team is developing well. They are starting to reach their primes and Jack and Samir are having breakthrough seasons.

    2. Van Persie when healthy is one of the most deadliest strikers out there.

    3. Fabregas, if he stays, will solidify himself as our permanent team leader.

All that we need, truly, is a experienced, good rate, GOALIE!!!!!
We have conceded so many bull crap goals this year and lost games because of those. If we had a Goalie like Man U does, Chelsea, and even Liverpool, ARSENAL would be dominant.
