Arsene Wenger: The unbeaten run shows there is no winning mentality problem

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the Gunners’ sixteen-game unbeaten run shows that the players do not lack a winning mentality.
With captain Cesc Fabregas and former players Patrick Vieira and Paul Merson all believing Arsenal lack a winning mentality, the Frenchman explained that the next step is to transform the draws to wins as he added that such a long unbeaten run clearly shows that the problem is not as serious as painted by some.
And on the mid-week draw against Tottenham in which the Gunners failed to keep a two-goal lead, the Arsenal boss said that it is not a shame to get a draw out of an outstanding game against a very good team.
Arsenal’s longest winning streak during the unbeaten run was at the start of the year with three games won with Wenger believing the Gunners can improve on that and win all their five remaining games and if they do, they will be champions.
On Friday afternoon, the manager said:
[Lacking a winning mentality?] No. I would say I explain the situation on the sixteen unbeaten run in the Premier League, so at least we have not a losing mentality and it’s down to us to transform the draws now in a winning habit.
I understand that your job is to create crisis after crisis but I have to take that with a little distance. When you’re on a sixteen unbeaten run in the Premier League of this quality, the situation is not as black as you paint it.
We just played 3-3 at Tottenham, it is not a shame, it was an outstanding game, if you say our performance was horrific I will say, ‘OK, we have to stand up for a poor performance’.
[But] I think you have to analyse that it was an outstanding game, that we played against a good team, a fantastic football game.
[Doubts that we can win five in a row?] No. We have a good basis because we are consistent, we played sixteen games without losing. What I feel most important for us is to keep the belief and to win, I’m convinced that if we win our five games, we will the Championship.
