Angry Wenger opts not to answer questions on Don Balon’s audio file

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was visibly upset with how Don Balón publishing an interview with captain Cesc Fabregas.

Speaking in his Bolton pre-match press conference, the Frenchman confirmed the words of the midfielder were twisted and when asked about the audio file made available by the website he replied by saying that he will not listen to the file as an agreement made between the Club and the website was not respected.

During the press conference, the Arsenal boss did not look open to discuss the interview and whether the words of the captain were indeed twisted or not even if according to Don Balón the interview was published without any changes.

On the Don Balon interview, Wenger said:

I stand by my claim [that Cesc Fabregas' words were twisted in the Don Balón interview], [and] I won’t [listen to the audio file].

We had an agreement that they had to send us a copy for approval, it was not done, so I maintain completely that they did not respect the agreement.

The article in itself, I do not want to discuss it with you. What they say is not interesting to us, they did not respect our agreement so there is nothing to discuss, they will never get an interview from us, again, ever.

[Cesc?] I speak with my players regularly, as you can know and I will not discuss that matter further, we have other problems at the moment than discuss every single article that is written about us in the newspapers because [if we do] we would never finish, it would be endless.

Why wenger is getting so frustrated about fabregas article, this guy has got guts to put the reality in the face of wenger, and truth is always bitter to slow, come on wenger change your dictator mentality, this will bring nowhere but hate from the loyal gunners fan like me for instant, are you deaf by the way

  • realistic tony says:

    AW the master of “SPIN”…

  • Tim says:

Liar, liar. This guy is a complete clown. He must be sacked asap.

  • Andrew says:

Whatever Arsene. How can you sit there and blindly defend Cesc without listening to the evidence (the audio file). So maybe they did have an agreement, but the fact that Don Balón publishing chose to make the audio file available seems to indicate that they did not ‘twist’ Cesc words.

    • ISLANDGOONER says:

come on you dont wenger it seems, stop defending him, there is never smoke without fire

  • bob hope says:

this reporter did the right thing publish what fabregas said because it clearly shows that even players are getting disgruntled with the manager and club, like supporters for the last few years have emphasied the need for quality players in defense and in goal but also attacking, all wenger said was trust me we have for the last five years only to see the same ole crap, well done fabregas at least we can see you have arsenal at heart and you truly believ like the arsenal supporters that wenger is making mistake after mistake unfourtunately he is blinded by his own arrogance, we need change, it needs to be now otherwise we will lose our toip players because they want success

  • Aussie Jack says:

My question is simple: Why would they want to `twist` Cesc`s words, what do they have to gain? Will Fabregas deny or confirm the interview was edited?

  • Chris says:

Is the audio file still on the Don Balon website?

It seems it was removed, no?

  • yemz says:

Even started the season with Almunia as no.1. How do you seriously expect to win the league? Its blatant issues like these that make people question is mental state. Come on wenger, sort it out, no more messing around.

  • Gooner says:

Wenger stubborness is what has created such great players like Cesc, RvP, Nasri and the most recent gem of Wilshere. We dont need a keeper. Every keeper in the world makes blunders. And this is Szceneys first season in the premier league and he is well on his way to becoming a world class GK next year we will have Verm back, no need for defenders. Too late when Verm comes back our defence will be good. If Cesc leaves, we”ve got players to replace him and 40m plus Cesc money to buy buy buy. Gourcuff, I think thats how you spell his name. French aswell. Fit right in. And he can shoot.

    • krysler the gonnner says:

not another french pls… lets get Mikel Arteta or someone like hamsik from napoli

  • Chris M says:

I don’t think the Cesc interview is a very big deal, i think Wengers mental health is more of an issue right now, he looks a total mess at the moment, we’ve seen him get a bit crazy on the touch line before but this is every game now, and even in his interviews he is acting more weird than i have ever seen him act before. It looks like its all a bit much for him a the moment he looks like he needs a break. he has to learn that the Players he has put all his faith in that some of them are not good enough or just don’t care enough. And his Tactics and player management has been very poor, his choice to never break away from are 433 tactics has meant we have become predictable and that he has completely shunned players like Bendtner and Chamakh who can’t get a game because he won’t change his Tactics. I think Wenger needs a long summer break to clear his head and start next season with some new fresh players and some fresh Ideas because i don’t think the Fans or Wenger could take another season like this one.

  • Ochola says:

Pack&Go,Arsene, who cares as long as tha dogs still eat tha bones!!

  • Aussie Jack says:

Like all idealists Wenger is paying the price of reality. He doesn`t have to change his philosophies of youth, very much the opposite he must encourage it by planting experience in it`s midst. Spend a little, live a little, that`s what money is for and it will take a lot of pressure off your shoulders. Set down your summer targets Arsene and let others do the hack work whilst you get away for a while, Arsenal will still be there when you get back.

  • tommy says:

Young or old, mental strength or no mental strength, no team can dream of winning anything when they make blunders that cost them cups and approx 9-15 points per season in the league. And those blunders come directly from the youth and inexperience. They don’t have cool heads when it’s time to close out games. If Wenger refuses to spend this summer on some experience he will incur the wrath or the fans and the media idiots will be on our backs from the start of next season. The team going from 23 to 24 years old is not going to make the difference in experience. Conversely, if Wenger does spend on some experience (and it doesn’t get us the desired result) Wenger can say he was right. Ironically this might be the reason he does it,to prove everyone wrong

  • jjdja says:

    “I won’t” – ignorant POS
and what the hell does this mean, -” We had an agreement that they had to send us a copy for approval” – does he think he can dictate everything?

    • tommy says:

Yes, he does. And he has run Arsenal into the crapper doing it

  • mano'gunner says:

How can he be so sure Cesc’s words were twisted if he won’t listen to the audiofile?

  • krysler the gonnner says:

Sorry to that but Cesc Fabregas should leave arsenal this summer!! if we see how he was playing this season, he is the one to be blamed not wenger! its as if he is playing like some average players on the pitch..

just watch his game vs barcelona where we lost 3 – 1. he is the one responsible on barcelona’s first goal!! dont forget that! after this article we can see that he has no respect for wenger and to arsenal itself.

why do we fans still criticize wenger after what he has done for the club?? football ain’t only about winning but its also about passion. And i think Wenger delivers that. many of you are arsenal fans because we love beautiful football. who dont love beautiful football huh? 0_o

to conclude, VP10 should be given captaincy as from NOW until Thomas Vermalen returns

  • wubGooner says:

I guess, what happened is, Fabregas did not want to get the article pre-reviewed by Wenger because he knew he will prevent publication. So, he made a deal with Dalon to just get it published ignoring the agreement with AFC.
