Arsene Wenger: We have to strengthen the squad where it needs

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted the Gunners need to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online after Sunday’s disappointing defeat away at Bolton, the Frenchman started by explaining that it is frustrating to lose the 16-game unbeaten run because of back-to-back mistakes from set-pieces as he explained that the problem is that defenders don’t attack the ball and also there is no-one commanding the penalty area.
Asked if the Gunners can still dream of winning the title, Wenger was honest enough to say it is very unlikely for Arsenal to become champions, adding that the players will however fight until the end.
And on next season, the Arsenal boss concluded by saying that strengthening the squad is something he thinks about on a regular basis and how the right decision will be taken during the summer transfer window.
On Sunday, Wenger said:
[The end of the 16-game unbeaten run] is frustrating, because I feel we made one mistake too many from corners.
It’s difficult to understand that we didn’t look alert with two minutes to go, it’s very frustrating because we gave two goals on two corners today and when you play for such a big stake, it’s too much.
[Conceding from corners has been a] massive [Achilles' heel this season] because we don’t attack the ball enough, nobody is commanding and it’s frustrating because we produced the efforts, the team had an outstanding attitude until now [but] they will not be rewarded because of small things but small things that cost you a lot.
We had the chances to kill the game and to score but we didn’t. Championships is about that, when you have the chances away from home you have to take them [but] we didn’t today.
[The title race?] It’s very unlikely now, we have to be realistic but we have to finish as well as we can.
[Next season?] We have the quality, that is for sure, we have to strengthen the squad where it needs and make the right decision on that front. It’s always in my mind [to to strengthen the squad], every day, don’t think it’s not on my mind, we always have that in our mind.
