Nicklas Bendtner confirms he will not leave Arsenal in the summer

Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner is set to stay at Arsenal for at least one more season after he rubbished rumours about a possible exit.

Speaking to Sporten.dk, the 23-year old confessed he met with manager Arsene Wenger to discuss his future with the Frenchman saying that he should not look for a new club.

After suffering an injury last summer, the Denmark International lost his place as central striker at Arsenal with Marouane Chamakh taking over and doing impressively well in the first part of the season. And, after Robin van Persie made his return from injury, Bendtner was used in an uncharacteristic right-wing position where he clearly doesn’t belong.

According to reports, German side Hamburg are interested in signing the 23-year old who scored nine goals in all competitions for the Gunners this season.

On his future, he said:

I have certainly talked to Wenger. But he has not told me that I should look for a new club to play for after the summer or that he is not satisfied with me.

Too bad the clown dosnt understand that his services are no longer needed

  • pdxArsenal says:

he is not clown, he does not fit Arsenal style of play but set him to sell and he will be gone in a minute.

  • montreal gooner says:

this beyond my belief , is arsenal a circus ? and we already have too many clowns , some should leave ?.
I watch other EPL teams , not the top ten , and their strkers have better skill . I come to the conclusion bendtner doesn/t belong to the EPL , he belongs to some league below .

  • DanAust says:

He hasnt confirmed anything, they just havent spoken about it

  • antarchile says:

Between the mediocrity of Chamack and Bentdenr’s I ‘d choose to keep whoever has a lower wage.

    • Benjai says:

chamackh is shorter. better header and better touch. N52 is a mockery of AFC.

      • Bob the Gunner says:

Chamakh scored 11 times for us during his first season. His hold-up play is awesome during the 1st half of the season when RVP was out. C’mon guys !!!

        • Benjai says:

exactly! and then dropped for 4 months! that would damage any1’s confdence.. also won atleast 5 penalties in that time. :)

        • SeattleGooner says:

Chamakh is a failure because he apparantly does not want to score… KIND of a flaw for a Striker wouldn’t you say? And its not just suddenly… He has passed up open looks all year in favor of ill advised passes that don’t come off, in large part, because his teammates are so shocked he passed up a shot.

his hold up play, and his workrate are better than Bendtner but at the end of the day, you want a Striker to SCORE, or at least create scoring chances, and Bendtner is better at this than Chamakh. Don’t be fooled by Bendtners poor performances this year, he was never played in the right position.

      • montreal gooner says:

AFC will retain bendtner , believe it or not , it is a joke , a pure joke , next season arsenal fans will be crucified again .
arsenal fans are a bunch of stupid and deserve to be crucified year after year .

  • kharadonha says:

    Good day Gooners,

Let me elaborate something here that NB52 is missing. At this time of the season the manager can never tell any player that he’s useless as that can create unhealthy environment in our dressing room but to be honest it is the matter of time before we say Goodbye to NB58.

Secondly, I’m so dissapointed in Arsene Wenger whom publicly told his players that we are now fighting for Top 4 spot. C’mon guys what is he trying to say or tell us? I’m beginning to doubt him oh sorry I noticed that long time ago before we crashed our of Champions League that we are useless and this team have no respect to its fans.

Thirdly, If we are not going to sell Cesc that means we still going to have the same situation as the one we are about to leave in a month’s time. It is time that we bring in players who are willing to run 120 minutes on the pitch and still wants to play football the next day. those are kind of players we need at Arsenal, remember the Arsenal of old days where we’ll be called “Boring,Boring Arsenal” but still manage to win titles after titles. what happened? Even the former are trying hard to advise Wenger not to look for players in France only as English players need to be respected and be given the opportunity they deserve to play for Arsenal.

Last but not least, let us splash the money this summer or else Stan Kronke has to intervene.

    • james says:

If he tells the players were fighting for top spot the pressure increases.. look at the table.. realistically.. we need to fight for the top 4.. We all know arsenal crumble under pressure.. so lets release the pressure.

    • montreal gooner says:

      kharadonha ,
top football clubs are now more of a business brand and players have huge power , they set the price . there is no fidelity , they go after better salary .
club , tradition , pride, ” our players , our club ” this is all fan fantasm , just look at the rooney saga , this is not the first and this is not the last .
If AFC let cesc go , with who they will replace with ? it is the same over and over .

  • hal says:

    BUGGER!!!!!!

  • MikE says:

decent player. very decent. but not world class.

    • Benjai says:

very decent… HA for sunday league hackney marshes he’d be decent.

  • alvares says:

THIS BENTNER GUY HAS NEVER PROVEN HIS IMPORTANCE TO THE CLUB

    • Benjai says:

or that he can even make a simple pass…

    • montreal gooner says:

why bendtner stay , is arsenal need a guy to mope the floor ? I cannot get it . this guy is useless pure and simple

  • kelly says:

seriously wenger needs to sober up arsenal have the ability to win the epl if he touches the right buttons.but then wenger buys players who are available rather than those the squad needs desperately.why do we have 5 play makers in the squad? nasri, wilshere, fabregas, arshavin, rosicky, ramsey.there is lack of balance in the team.do we really need nasri and fabregas in the same team.but it seems wenger is not answerable to anyone and does as he likes.we surely don’t need chamack and bendtner in the same team coz neither is a goal scorer and are too much mediocrity anyway.no winger,no goal poacher, no proper holding midfielder,no power players.this squad needs balance.

    • redro says:

have to agree that the team needs balance. all those you mention are small, skillful ball players but are reluctant to shoot from outside box.i cannot remember when song had a go either since hes come back .rosicky,s shooting for czech was immense til he came to arsenal and ramsey has scored goals for wales from 35 yards but doesnt threaten for us .a good free taker would be a bonus if had some physical presence also.however i can see some responsibility coming back into the side with chesny,tv4,cesc,and robin. jd can only improve and is not far off the finished article with tv4 beside him. btw chamakh
did what he was bought for and was the best striker in epl b4 rvp came back,as well as winning penalties .regarding goal poaching, would arshavin not be one of best in league if we take defence responsibilities away from him .he cannot do that job so its crazy to expect him to get up and down pitch . maybe we expect too much from players like this .

  • Damn_Gallas says:

Bendtner should leave… together with almunia, eboue, scquillaci, denilson, diaby, rosicky and arshavin..

Instead promote some youngsters that are real eager to play for arsenal.. or sign some new players with experience.

Damn it Wenger, we were so close to winning our first trophy, and we couldnt even defeat birmingham??

    • kryslergooner says:

u want rosicky to leave??!! dammit!!!

  • rahulv says:

not even one who want nb52 to stay…….

  • eve says:

great news, great guy, great footballer, love him, glad hes staying.

    • kelly says:

which team do you support eve?

  • Hunter says:

The sooner he leaves the better. He thinks he is the best striker on the planet and clearly doesn’t work hard to get better. We don’t need that in our squad. I think Wojo has a better first touch than Bendtner.

  • PAUL says:

THATS A SHAME.I HOPE HE GETS A PROPER INJURY IN PRE-SEASON KEEP HIM OUT FOREVER

  • MUTIU JIMOH says:

A STRIKER THAT CAN’T SCORE A ONE ON ONE CHANCE AGAINST BARCA TO SEND ARSENAL THROUGH AND STILL FEEL HE IS THE BEST IN ARSENAL , A GOA L THAT WILL BE SCORE EASILY BY VELA OR EVEN MURPHY , OBED , AFOBE ,OR J E .THOMAS OR S. WATH ALL OF THE RESERVE TEAM. HE SHOULD GO AND CHAMAKH TO STAY THEN ARSENE SIGN A GOOD STRIKER THAT IS BETTER THAN RVP WHO CAN 30 GOALS AND ABOVE A SEASON AND WILL STAY INJURY FREE.

  • soccersurf says:

Bendtner is not the problem. 2 seasons ago he scored a lot of clutch goals.
He had a cracking goal this season and it is clear he has potential. He does very well on the internatioanl level. He has been played on the right for about 15 minutes a game and it doesnt work, he is out of position. And still he has given some good assists.

He needs to play as part of a 4-4-2 up front, not on the right. He also needs to realize he may only be a sub, especially if he doesnt perform. I would not get rid of him unless he demands to start every game (i think if he works hard in preseason he should start in a 4-4-2) no matter how he plays. If he sucks next season he will sit the bench and leave. Unless of course wenger has a great replacement or teams are asking to pay over 12 million pounds for him (who knows with all the rumors out there)

It could be a mistake to sell Bendtner in my opinion. We aren’t far off the league and Bend has certainly not been the problem. It has been defense, goalie, and our starting team in general.. No point blaming the situation on guys who dont play like rosicky or denilson. The starters are the reason we are where we are, that and the coach

    • Gooner says:

Seriously,Bendtner a decent striker for us?The dud has never scored 10 goals a season(EPL) for Arsenal! Now U gonna talk about starting time! How many games did Hernandez play in EPL?When did he become 1 of the staring XI?Only recently! The lad has scored many goals this season than Bendtner has ever scored in an EPL season! Now,U gonna say,he’s still young! He’s 23 & Hernadez is younger than the flop!Offload the useless flop and bring a great striker for us 2 win trophies. He must take with him: Denilson,ALmu,Diaby,Rosi,Squill, and ARshavin(if we get enough money for him)+ all the flops I forgot 2 mention here. Of course AW is unlikely 2 sell all his biggest flops.Right now I’m not with those who think he must leave but if he keeps Bendtner I may change sides…Now the prob would become the principle. He may shine for a diff team, but I don’t really care about it.I have had enough of him!The door is wide open fool!
When it comes 2 Cesc,he’s been a great player for us,but he no longer has the desire 2 play for us,so let him leave with one condition only:Strengthen the squad in all sides: Bring Hazard/better 2 compete with Manu for Sneijder otherwise NAsri can play where Fab was,P. Merte,Sketel/Neuer if possible to compete with scz though not as urgent,Alex, bring back Ryo,for me Sergio Aguero would be a dream come true, and I’ll be satisfied. Thanks folks!

    • Boswell says:

I agree with you. It’s the defence that needs sorting out.
Bendtner has potential and with a good pre-season who knows. As long as his happy to sit on the bench work hard and prove himself whenever he gets the chance I’m happy. He’s shown potential and I think he’ll come good, at least his not scared to have a go at goals.
We’re not Madrid to have the likes of Benzema, Kaka and co warming the bench so it may as well be Bendtner, Chamakh and co.

  • Ray says:

If you just want to continue to sit on the bench, but still I prefer to give the place to some other players.

  • jasongms says:

bendtner would be a revelation for a team like Everton . Any way , really does need to go !

  • Jamike says:

Left 2 me, bentner has more potentials 2 perform dan chamahk, like honestly which striker on Gods great earth will receive a pass in d box n d 1st tin on his mkind is 2 run outa d box 2 d flank

  • omg says:

oh my , this is done to piss me off

  • ben lanier says:

NEWCASTLE MADE A 15 MILLION POUND BID FOR HIM in january.

sunderland also said they want another CF with bent and welbeck depature and cambell injury.

WHY IS THIS FOOL STILL AT THE CLUB.

  • Kylmis says:

Seriously guys, Why we should sell Bendtner? 2 Hat-tricks already for the club at the age of 23. And only player with Henry who has managed to score Hat-Trick in UCL for Arsenal. Also, we all know that RVP can’t play full season, always injuried. So when Robin gets injuried who will replace, Chamakh? No! He doesn’t know how to score. Bend has quality to be our number 2 striker.
