With Arsenal set to end yet another season with nothing to show for it, manager Arsene Wenger needs – according to many – to sign new players.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online about what his plans are for the summer, the Frenchman admitted that the Gunners always have names in mind as they evaluate – on a weekly basis – all the reports submitted by their scouts from all over the world.
But, the Arsenal boss added that it’s still early to speak about who could join during the summer transfer window adding that the focus at the moment is to do well in the last four games of the season.
And on the return of Thierry Henry who will be in action with the New York Red Bulls in this summer’s Emirates Cup, Wenger concluded by saying that it’s always nice to welcome an old friend back, concluding by saying how important the Cup is, during pre-season.
On Thursday, Wenger said:
[Transfers?] We always have names in mind because we have our scouting reports every week, we have scouts all over the world but I feel it’s too early to speak about that because it’s important to focus highly on the end of the season.
[The Emirates Cup?] It’s good news to have our friend Thierry Henry back, overall I am happy. It’s always a massive experience and a great experience to have the Emirates Cup, always a big joy to experience that.

i agree. a proven striker would be fantastic. Someone like Falcao, Etoo, or Cavani (just throwing names out there haha). i would then evaluate during pre-season and probably put vela and bendtner on loan to other premier league clubs, the latter can be recalled in the event of long-term injury.
I also hope Wenger brings in a strong no-nonsense CDM. Song is fantastic but an extra player would provide steel to the midfield as Diaby is strong but more attacking and very inconsistent, and Denilson is by no means a good player in that position. Personally i would invest in Vertonghen, he is also a good defender.
Personally i would also bring in a CB/LB to challenge Squillacci or Clichy for their places. Squill i think is a decent player he had a horrendous first season and will improve next year, the latter could certainly use a kick up the backside and i bet his defensive performances would improve if he knew his spot was at stake. Personally i would break the bank for Sakho.
I dont think a new keeper is required. Fabianski and Szsesney have both had a good season and will excel with a strong defence. Since Almunia is probably leaving (thank god) i would bring in a decent but inexpensive keeper to replace him. Im hoping for Schwarzer
