Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon denied that he will leave the Italian club to join Arsenal during the summer transfer window.
Heavily linked with the Gunners last season, the Italian told Sky Sports Italy that next season he will still be at Juventus even if the “Vecchia Signora” will not play Champions League football after a very disappointing campaign.
Believing that the Bianconeri missed too many opportunities this year, the 33-year old added that the players’ job is to now focus on securing a Europa League place as he was full of support for criticised manager Luigi Delneri.
Earlier this week, Arsenal legend David Seaman explained that the Gunners have two very solid goalkeepers in Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski, two who are certainly the future for Arsenal in the goalkeeping department.
On Juventus and next season, Buffon said:
Next year I will still be at Juventus. I don’t think there is such a possibility of me going to Arsenal. My intentions and that of the club are to continue together.
It’s been a disappointing season, we missed too many opportunities. Now Europe is the minimum target and is a question of dignity. [And] as long as I go to training and I find [Luigi] Delneri here I’m glad.
