Jens Lehmann, “I would be able to continue playing”

Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is considering extending his stay with the Gunners for one more season.
Speaking to Bild, the 41-year old explained that his return to the North London Club was more of a hobby rather than an official comeback but after only three weeks he had to deputise for injured Manuel Almunia when the Gunners faced Blackpool, in the English Premier League, away from home.
Asked if he can play for one more year, the former Germany International declared it is a possibility as also his team-mates ask him if he will be a Gunner next season.
And on taking on a coaching role when he retires for good, the veteran confirmed he is close to finish a trainer course adding that England could be an ideal destination for the future.
Ahead of next season, Lehmann said:
It was not really a comeback, but more of a last resort – actually more of a hobby. I took three weeks to get really fit – and then I had to play against Blackpool.
I thought, ‘you can do it still. It is not forgotten’. From my performance I would be able to continue playing. My team-mates are always asking me if I’ll still be here next season.
I can very well imagine a job in football. First, I’ll probably end my trainer course.
When you have such personalities as Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, this (England) is the ideal solution.
