Arsene Wenger hints at “tall players” transfer activity to solve set-piece problem

It was a problem two seasons ago and it was a problem in the just-ended season: Arsenal keep conceding goals from set-pieces.
Asked about what is being done to solve this problem, manager Arsene Wenger confessed it is easy to correct but it is important to improve the size of the squad – in respect to height – adding that the focus is indeed on properly assessing the concern.
Teams like Stoke City are renowned for bombarding the Arsenal penalty area with long throw-ins or long balls with the Frenchman admitting that the Gunners have to learn to deal with such situations.
And on what was the best performance in the Premier League, Wenger concluded by saying that there were many as he highlighted the games against Chelsea and Manchester United at home as well as the away games against Tottenham and Newcastle.
Ahead of next seasons, the manager said:
We conceded very few on open play but most of them on set-pieces. It’s something that is easy to correct and I feel we need to improve a little bit the size of our squad in some games, we focus on that as well.
[Getting tall players in the summer?] Maybe a bigger variety in the height of our players that in some games you can use more some players than others.
When you know what kind of football you face, to be a little bit more, of course, capable to fight against some characteristics than we have been this season.
[Our best performance in the Premier League?] We had great games, I feel at home against Chelsea, at home against Man United, away at Tottenham, the first half at Newcastle, plenty of good games.
