What next for Miyaichi? – Cloud of uncertainty hangs over Bendtner

Ryo Miyaichi heading back to Feyenoord for another loan spell is not, it would appear, a foregone conclusion. Sky Sports is reporting that although Ryo had a successful loan with the Dutch club, Feyenoord may be wary of seeking the Japanese winger’s services again, as they have their own young talent at the position.
“Ryo has definitely been of great value to us,” said Martin van Geel, Feyenoord’s technical director.
“The lad has done very well with us, but we also have to look at our own players. In Sekou Cisse and Jerson Cabral we have two players able to work just as well as Ryo in the same position. We cannot turn a blind eye to that. Therefore we will go through everything and then make a considered decision whether it is wise to bring in Ryo.”
This isn’t really unexpected, I would think. Feyenoord has a club of very young players, and it is completely reasonable that they would want some time to evaluate their future at that position before bringing in another club’s player on loan. In fact I think it will likely work out perfect, because Arsenal will want to evaluate Ryo this preseason.
It’s still looking unlikely that Arsenal will be able to procure a work permit for Ryo, so if Feyenoord do decide they don’t want him, another location will have to be found.
Moving on, Nicklas Bendtner rumors have been popping up left and right, and the international media is having a tough time getting their stories straight. Goal.com recently reported that while English newspaper The Times was claiming that Borussia Dortmund were interested in buying the player, German publication Kicker were claiming there was no interest, and the Bundesliga champions would only pursue the want-away Arsenal striker if their current first choice striker Lucas Barrios was sold.
Personally, I don’t care where he goes, Bendtner just needs to go. Arsenal don’t need him, but they do need the money that his sale would generate. I hope that once international transfers open up on July first we will see a deal is announced, but I’ll not get my hopes up. According to reports, we are asking for between 10m and 12m for Bendtner.
At 12m, Bendtner is good value. I mean, here is a tall, physically imposing striker who uses his size to his advantage very effectively. Oh, wait, no he doesn’t. Well, at least he is clinical in front of goal, and never misses the easy … erm, nevermind. Well, at least he’s always healthy…. Lets be honest, we will be lucky to get 6m for Bendtner, and this isn’t me having a go at him (although if anyone’s ego could do with a bruising…), I just don’t feel that Arsene is facing this situation realistically.
Realistically, Bendtner is a player who has never been able to firmly hold a place in the team, despite RVP basically making him the first choice by default. And if you take away the decent job he did in the 2 or 3 months in 09/10 season when he literally the only striker in the team, what else is he?
I’ll tell you what he is, he is the same as Diaby. Vast amounts of potential, very little of it realized. I’m going to start referring to them as ‘hypothesis players’ because how many times do you look at them and say “If he could just _____, then he could _____.”
