Arsenal target Gervinho: Don’t compare me to Marouane Chamakh

Arsenal transfer target Gervinho has expressed his expectation that he will ‘flourish’ at the Emirates, suggesting that he will easily get into the Gunners team ahead of Marouane Chamakh.

The Ivorian is likely to be Arsene Wenger’s first summer signing, with the deal due to be completed next week, and it seems the Lille star is not short on confidence.

Alvarez has been touted as the man to fill Cesc Fabregas’s boots, should the Gunners skipper finally move to Barcelona this summer, and Arsene Wenger was confident of completing a deal for the 23-year-old in the next few days.

Arsenal snap up Barca youngster Bellerin as Madrid consider rival Fabregas offer

Arsenal may be set to lose Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona but Arsene Wenger has put that deal to one side and raided the Catalan club for starlet Hector Bellerin.

The 16-year-old right-back claims he has been promised a fast track to the first team and looks set to be the platform from which Wenger builds his next Arsenal side.

Bellerin, speaking to Spanish TV programme Punto Pelota, said: ‘I was at home and my father called me to say Arsenal had been on the phone.
