Arsenal fans will be delighted to know that striker Robin van Persie is ready to go on for at least ten more years.
Speaking to Arsenal Player, the Dutchman explained that at the moment he is halfway through his career having played professional football for almost ten years and if his body allows him to, he is ready to play for at least ten more years.
Asked if it’s time to win trophies with the Gunners, the 27-year old admitted that his desire is indeed to win things with his Club adding however that the primary objective for a footballer should be to enjoy the game and have fun, ingredients that will help you achieve objectives in the game and in life.
Against the Malaysia All-Stars XI on Wednesday and Hangzhou Greentown today, van Persie failed to find the back of the net but will surely be determined to open his account when the Gunners travel to Germany next week to face Cologne on Saturday.
On his future, the striker said:
The way I see is that I’m halfway in my career. I’ve been playing professional football for almost ten years now and I’d like to play it for at least ten more years.
Of course I want to win things but winning things doesn’t really come from nothing, out of blue, it comes from enjoyment, from having fun, that’s really important as without fun I don’t really believe you can achieve anything in life.
I know what my basics are and I work from my basics onwards, hopefully from those things big things will come but I’m just a part of a whole story, I’m not playing tennis or a sport like that, it depends on many things.
I can do my job and I’m more than happy to help everyone but in the end I’m part of this team and hopefully we can grow as a team, become better and achieve something.
