The Gunning Hawk - ForumRobin van Persie

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie was full of praise for Hangzhou Greentown after the Gunners could only manage a draw in yesterday’s game.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, the Dutchman explained that the local side were very good, incredibly fit and not shy to play with the ball on the ground. Asked about the local fans, the 27-year old said that they were amazing as they showed that Arsenal is very popular all over the world.

Asked what his message is for the Asian fans who were so full of energy and support even during training sessions, van Persie showed his gratitude asking the fans to keep supporting the Gunners with the same enthusiasms they showed during the tour.

On Saturday, the striker said:

[Hangzhou Greentown] were very good, they looked very fit, they played the passing game, they looked very good. [The fans?] It’s amazing, we played so far from home and we see all these Arsenal shirts here. It’s amazing, a big thank you to all of them.

[What I enjoyed the most?] The smiles on the faces of the fans, they were so excited to see us because normally we go to Austria, in the last seven years, so now we could feel and see how big Arsenal actually is. Arsenal is a very big team.

[My message to the Asian fans?] Thanks for all your smiles, enthusiasm and support, keep supporting Arsenal.

I was there for the Arsenal game in Malaysia. I wished the match would’ve gone on for 120 minutes instead of 90 as it finished too soon for me. Would’ve really appreciated it if the players did a lap of honour and threw their jerseys to the crowd too. It’s not like they play here every week.
All in all I had a good time and hope they’ll come again
