Wenger, “Bendtner and Eboue are both on the verge of a move”

The Gunning Hawk - ForumArsene Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has yet again confirmed that striker Nicklas Bendtner and right back Emmanuel Eboue will probably leave during the summer transfer window.

Speaking on Saturday after the 2-2 draw against Boca Juniors, the Frenchman explained that the two players are on the verge of a move but also how at the moment no agreement has been reached with other clubs.

Yet to be involved in pre-season friendlies, the Denmark International was heavily linked with a move to Sporting Clube de Portugal last week but the rumours were immediately rubbished by sporting director Carlos Freitas who labeled the speculation as “pure fiction”.

The Ivory Coast International – on the other hand – featured in both games played last weekend in the Emirates Cup and is, according to reports, very close to joining Galatasaray, in Turkey, for £4m.

On the future of the two, Wenger said:

[Nicklas Bendtner and Emmanuel Eboue] are both on the verge of a move but nothing has been concluded with anybody.

I don’t have any club in mind for Nicklas Bendtner because we are far from having done anything with anybody. I cannot give you any club because we have given him the permission to move.

wtf was the point of playing eboue at the weekend, denying someone else a run out. another pathetic wengerism

    • goonerdan says:

haha beats me. but in all fairness to the two of them they did well at arsenal, eboue in his early years, and bendtner getting goals as a sub and not even playing in his preferred position, and he’s still young, wish em all the best if they do go.

  • legoon says:

Our club needs these 2 billionaire owners to put there money down and tell the nutty prof to spend it we are a kalaughing stock

  • Bouba says:

Alright Wenger !! And where are the new signings????

That guy is too complaisant, he is going to take us in the hole…!!

I wish he will talk less and do more.

If he thinks, if anybody thinks, that we are going to win anything with this squad ( the same squad ), he or she is totally deluded and dreaming… That’s just not going to happen.

It has never been so obvious that we need some significant ( not a lot, but significant ) recruits.

We never had problems scoring goals ( even though it seems to be a problem now ), but our defence is a mess, a real mess…

  • Simmer10 says:

Hypocracy is live and well with wenger, plays booooooe when he is on the verge of leaving at the cost of one of our young players getting a game.
Tells us for 8 years he won’t sign experienced players because it will ” kill young player’s de
velopment”! Yes he has lost the plot!

  • Kayz says:

Bendtner has always been an average player,we wont miss him that much.arsen wenger shud add vela nd chamack to list of players allowed to move.

  • skins says:

Wenger must go. He the board have completely lost the plot. BRING BACK DAVID DEIN

    • tail says:

So David Dein as Arsenal’s… manager? Are you high?

  • Jake says:

What about Almunia. When are we going to get rid of him?

    • Chris says:

sshht, or Wenger might hear you.

    • Wachid Indo Gunner says:

no mate, we need player or players to blame. thats why we need him to stay.

  • Darnsenal says:

Wenger!!!…Barton is on a free transfer, now Wenger is ‘very active’, ready to jump on him without assessing the impact on the club…when would this cheapness end?

  • Wachid Indo Gunner says:

So, where are the new signings..??

Bring 1 more world class striker. It is hopeless to play with only 1 striker. There had been lack of creativity. It is obvious that we should comeback to the strategy when we won double 2003/2004. 2 strikers and 2 powerful midfield. I think we can depend on song and wilshire for the midfield position. Gervinho, arshavin, walcott, nasri (if he’ll stay) can play in the both flanks. We saw yesterday that no one moved forward when we hold the ball just in front of the penalty box like pires, ljungberg, reyes usually did and then scored from the beautiful through pass or 1-2 passing with the strikers.

We need to sign benzema. May be by selling fabregas to madrid + some additional transfer fees could be a good option.

I am quite happy with the return of vermaelen. Together with koscielny they will be solid in the back. As an substitute, Djorou is a good player referring to last season, not on the way he made mistake few days ago. Hopefully squillaci will never make any mistakes again next season.

We also need 1 more talented left full back. Bring the bad guys to emirates. I am enough of seeing the our players being muscled down by the opponents.

‘We saw yesterday that no one moved forward when we hold the ball just in front of the penalty box like pires, ljungberg, reyes usually did’

Look a little closer, Gervinho did just that.

i saw wenger in halfords yesterday about to buy a bike. The bike had a label on it with£200 reduced from 400 on it and made in england . Wenger said ” i will give you £100 for it…as that is the value i think it should be”. The bloke said…”no mate..its already reduced..its a quality bike …take it or leave it”….wenger said to his friend and adviser jacques le cock “these english bikes are over-priced i may look in france for a new bargain bicyclette”.
wenger left the shop and had a look at some foreign bikes …but wasnt struck with any of them…he went back to the shop and offered the bloke £160 for the bike…the bloke said “your too late anyway mate….some scots geezer came in and threw down £200 in a wad of tenners and cycled out the shop…deal was done in 2 minutes”.
wenger shook his head and trudged out the shop. “You missed out there arsene” his mate jacques said.
“well i dont really need a new bike..i can make do with my old bicyclette.it lets me down sometimes but it is satisfactory….and i can save my money….dyou know jacques…i feel i have done some good business today….i have £160 in my wallet that i may not have had”

    • A.M says:

Well done mate…a simply exquisite comment :)

    • Chris G says:

      Hilarious!!!!!

  • Devi says:

With less than two weeks before ko,Wenger has not not got the experienced epl defenders. Don’t be surprised he doesn’t get anyone when the tw shuts. He will say he has wc kids lying in wait and they will be better than those he had blooded/bloodied.The point is the fans have been aware unless you have the finished product,it will be a waste of time.To be exact six years have flashed past with no respite.
After the draw with Henry’s side he promised a defensive improvement.Well the same flaws
have been exposed and frankly he is suffering from a bad case of dementia if he thinks the gunners can challenge for the title.
The first five to ten games will, imho, determine his future. If the points total is less than satisfactory he maybe finally on the way out.Of course he could surprise us but the bookies are usually 90% spot on.

  • Daniel Wong( Hong Kong) says:

With such a dodgy defence Arsenal/Arsene is deluded if he thinks he can win the epl.His time will surely be up by Xmas at the most if the gunners fail to challenge or are drifting in mid table. His brand of soccer won’t win games in the epl but for entertaiment it is tops. But in sports especially in the epl it is winning that counts.
He is still stuck in his mindset. He epects his players to be unhindered in their passing. The worst is opponents know the gunners won’t shoot unless there is a gap. Then the gunners go on a merry bout of passing to eternity until the ball is mis drected or intercepted and a counter results in a goal in the gunners net.
He doesn’t want to play defensive because it is against his philosophy. His stereotype play is heaven sent for the red faced and others.Until and unless he modifies his tactics gunners fans are in for a torrid autumn.

  • sam says:

anyone noticed we are playing better than big spending liverpool?
and we are only 2 players short to mount a serious challenge. it seems like most dont care who we sign as long as he’s a new signing. sack wenger and replace him with dalglish then! you will sure be unveiling new signing every 2 minutes.

    • Alex says:

That isnt true, if Arsenal sign Joey Barton I will be enraged. He is a vile and disgusting excuse for a human being.

  • critic says:

He’s talking about alumunia and bendtner. He is certainly not talking about eboue.
What kind of morons are running blogs about arsenal?

    • Chris says:

      Go here:
      http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/-we-played-at-a-good-pace-for-60-minutes-

Push ctrl+f on your keyboard, search for Eboue, push ctrl+f4 on your keyboard and then I suggest you apologise to the “morons”.

  • gt says:

Haha, not that it will happen, but if Wenger signs Barton that will be the most hilarious thing in the history of football. But think about it, why not? Low cost and low risk… and he can certainly show our players how to tackle with some “British grit”. Maybe a good back up when both Song and Frimpong are out for the ACN?

  • paris86 says:

Bendtner is not that bad and Eboue is an amazing player. i just don’t want to lose Eboue, we all know why. he didn’t show too much against NY but hope he does well if he stays. about Bendtner, i would loan him to get first team opportunities as he wants and bring him back because he can be useful. but if he wants to leave he will. absolutely prefer him to Chamakh, i don’t know what happened to Marouane, he passes instead of shooting and his passes are bad. we would need a striker if Bendtner leaves because i don’t expect Chamakh to fill up for van Persie though i do see Vela doing it but we all know Wenger. he will play him on the wing instead.

    • beeme says:

      Yes. I agree with you.

  • GunnerEye says:

Oh My God ! Bendtner are good as RVP ,why don you give him a shot ! put the position where he expert for ..If bendtner go for stoke city ,Wenger you making a “grave mistake” He will BOOM our goal .

  • beeme says:

Please! Eboue is not arsenal’s problem.Better get other excuses. If every player had the desire he has, things would be different.Over the weekend ,he came when the system was dying. Everyone was becoming careless
