Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger travelled to Portugal ahead of tomorrow’s Eusebio Cup game against Benfica with 19 players, including youngsters Henri Lansbury and Ignasi Miquel.
With Jack Wilshere not included in the squad after suffering an ankle injury last week and with midfielder Samir Nasri and striker Carlos Vela also omitted after suffering knocks in mid-week, the Frenchman also included new signings Gervinho and Carl Jenkinson as well as Japan’s Ryo Miyaichi.
Defenders Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs and captain Cesc Fabregas are also missing from the list but fan-favourites Robin van Persie, Thomas Vermaelen and Wojciech Szczęsny will feature in tomorrow’s game.

that squad is just not going to compete this year. i’ve just read wenger’s comments in the press conference and the prognosis is not good. he’s banging on about “super quality” players transfer wise and how we are not near signing anybody at the moment although there “might be something next week”. it’s not looking good and the smokescreen surrounding fabregas and nasri is just laughable.
