Arsenal are reportedly interested in bringing Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are facing a player exodus with Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas, Carlos Vela and Nicklas Bendtner all eyeing the exit door which would leave manager Arsene Wenger short of options in attack. With Robin van Persie likely to miss the start of the season, the need for a striker is brought into even sharper focus and that has led to the interest in Welbeck.

Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Scott Dann from Birmingham City as Arsene Wenger strives to reinforce his defence before the Premier League season kicks off, Goal.com can reveal.

Arsenal have stepped up their interest in the 24-year-old centre-half after growing increasingly frustrated with their moves to capture Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka.

The Gunners are believed to have told Birmingham they will pay £6 million for Dann, who has regained fitness after missing the second half of last season through injury but was an unused substitute in the club’s Championship opener against Derby County last weekend.
