Wenger: We’re a bit short, we could sign one or two players

Gael Clichy, Cesc Fabregas, Nicklas Bendtner, Emmanuel Eboue and Samir Nasri, all players who left or all about to leave Arsenal during the summer transfer window.
Speaking about a turbulent summer, manager Arsene Wenger explained that what is important at this stage of the season is to be strong and united as a team as he added that he is very happy with the quality signings of Carl Jenkinson, Joel Campbell, Ryo Miyaichi, Gervinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Asked if new players will sign this week, the Arsenal boss confessed that the squad is currently short of players and that his team is working hard to add one or two names with the manager again insisting that the Club is not “frightened” to spend money.
Tonight, Arsenal will face Udinese of Italy in what could be easily be described as a must-win game as the Gunners desperately need to reach the group stage of the Champions League in order to look forward with optimism.
In Monday’s press conference, Wenger said:
What is more important is how strong we feel inside, as a team. We are determined, we have bought some very good players and overall the feeling inside the squad is very strong and the desire and belief is very strong.
Let’s not forget that we have brought players in. I have Carl Jenkinson, we have bought Gervinho in, we have bought Joel Campbell in, we have brought Ryo Miyaichi in. You do not know them very well yet but they are all quality players.
But of course [we] will be encouraged by the results in the very near future, and as well, certainly, by the fact we can still bring one or two players in because we are a bit short.
[Transfer news?] Not lately, because there’s ins and outs and I must say we were more busy, very busy with negotiating out because it’s as well difficult to perfectly link the two, in and out, it’s very much time consuming.
[But] we will try. We are not frightened to spend money but we have to be convinced the player is better than what we have. That is our main concern, to bring quality. We have quality, but want to add more quality.
