Arsenal vs Shrewsbury Town: Team line-ups, half-time thoughts and match chat

The Game
After last Saturday’s terrible defeat against Blackburn Rovers, it is time for Arsenal to “bounce back” as they host Shrewsbury Town, at the Emirates, in the Carling Cup.
Youngster Chuks Aneke, Daniel Boateng, Damian Martinez, Ignasi Miquel, Oguzhan Ozyakup, Sanchez Watt and Nico Yennaris were all selected to be part of tonight’s squad with Arsenal fans to finally enjoy debuts from Ryo Miyaichi and Chu Young Park, the two Asian players who according to manager Arsene Wenger will show, together with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, that they are quality.
Unfortunately, what I wrote about in the preview will not take place as the defensive department who featured against Steve Kean’s men is not in the squad, big shame, as today’s game was a golden opportunity to inject confidence in players who I’m afraid are very, very low in confidence after a disastrous start to the season.
For sure, is that we want no “we turned the corner” statements if we enjoy a positive win today because we’ve seen it before and we all know what happened after that. So let’s win the game and look ahead at the Bolton game knowing that we are facing a crisis out of which it is not easy to come out.
And, until you wait for kick-off, check out the complete 18-man squad selected by manager Arsene Wenger and why, according to Jeff, the Frenchman is still the one for the Gunners despite suffering a terrible start to the new season.
