Gervinho on trophies and the possibility of playing in a central position

Arsenal winger Gervinho is ready to play as a central forward if manager Arsene Wenger decides to utilise him in such a position.
Speaking to Arsenal Player, the Ivory Coast International started by saying that he is enjoying life at Arsenal as it’s a new challenge after joining from Lille in the summer and settling down was pretty much straightforward thanks to the help of the French-speaking team mates at the Club.
Asked if the Gunners can win trophies this season, the 24-year old admitted that the start of the season was very disappointing but declared that there is enough quality in the side to indeed aim for silverware.
Gervinho will not be in the squad for today’s Champions League game at home against Olympiakos but is expected – with defender Laurent Koscielny and striker Theo Walcott – to recover in time to face Tottenham Hotspur, on Sunday, in the English Premier League.
On his first months at Arsenal, the winger said:
I really enjoyed [my first few months here], I really enjoyed it, I’m loving it here and it’s with great joy, my great passion is being here at Arsenal.
It’s a new challenge and the settling in has brought a few difficulties but I’ve got some French-speaking friends and that’s helped, it’s gone really well and I’m feeling fine.
[Confident that we can win trophies after a busy summer?] Well that’s football, you always get comings and going with players and you need to get used to it all and it’s just one of those things that happen at every single Club.
For my part, I’ve come here and I’m happy to be here. I wanted to come here and to win lots of trophies.
The players here are very good players, that’s why they’re here and I got faith in my friends, in the management of the Club and these people are all part of such a great Club as Arsenal, all very good players.
I’ve got great confidence in the team and everything for this season and for years to come.
I’m not going to deny it, it’s not been a great start to the season but these things happen and I’ve got great faith in the team and everything at the Club.
[Playing as a centre forward?] I can play wide on either side or in the middle, neither is a problem for me and if needed I can play through the middle.
