Wojciech Szczesny: How I felt after conceding eight goals against Manchester United

Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny revealed that a goalkeeper can never be satisfied with his performance when at the end of the game the scoreboard reads eight conceded goals.
Speaking to Arsenal Player about last month’s terrible defeat away at Old Trafford against Manchester United, the Poland International explained that even though he produced some good saves during the game he of course archived the performance as one to forget as ultimately a goalkeeper will always be forced to make saves against the Red Devils.
The 21-year old added that it was a very disappointing night for the players but is convinced that it was a one-off and it will not happen again as the team learned from the game and the Gunners are now more solid in the defensive department.
Szczesny is expected to start tomorrow away against Tottenham Hotspur with the Gunners knowing that a win is a must as they are twelve points from the top of the table but of course with a game in hand.
On Friday, the goalkeeper said:
[How I felt after the Manchester United defeat?] I didn’t have the best of games because you can never be satisfied when you concede eight goals and I personally feel I could have done better on a couple of them.
I made a couple of saves but you expect to make a few saves away at Man United.
It was a very disappointing night, probably one that will never again but I think the whole team will learn from it [as] we are more solid at the back when we travel away.
[What I told my dad after the game?] I don’t know if he was just trying to be nice or honest but he was rather positive after the game, he tried to keep me positive.
You don’t want to go too deep into game as you want to forget about it so we didn’t talk much about it.
He said, ‘Don’t worry, I think you’ve done well, just keep doing your best’, he was quite happy with my mental strength.
