Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna believes that 19-year old Carl Jenkinson will soon show that he will become one of the best defenders in the squad.
The Frenchman underwent surgery this week and is expected to be ruled out for at least three months with the former Charlton Athletic man set to take over on the right wing.
And asked whether the youngster is good enough to replace him, Sagna replied on his Twitter account that Jenkinson is very talented, will do his job properly and will soon be “one of the best defenders”.
Considered by many as one of the strongest right backs in the world, the 28-year old suffered a broken leg in the final part of last week’s North London Derby that the Gunners lost by two goals to one.
In the summer, manager Arsene Wenger decided to let Emmanuel Eboue leave the Club for Galatasaray after he signed Carl Jenkinson from Charlton Athletic with the youngster already featuring in important games such as against Manchester United and Liverpool but yet to fully convince.
If Sagna suffers no setbacks during his recovery, he should be available for the January 21 game at the Emirates Stadium against Manchester United.
The Gunners should however welcome back Thomas Vermaelen, Abou Diaby and Laurent Koscielny after the International break, in time to face Sunderland on October 16, at the Emirates.
