  • Malignant TB says:

    I also wonder

  • jason says:

Do none of you listen to Wenger?

He said he bought him because the african cup of nations is this year and if RVP gets injured he needs cover for that posistion while Chamakh is away.

    • Kamal says:

but still is it really wise to not give a game chance.what will he do without playing for 6 months then?

      • jason says:

How am i supposed to know I just gave the reason why Wenger bought him thats all.

    • 9jagun says:

That does not mean he cant give him 15 mins to add something to the squad especially when we are lacking goals rather than bring in Chamakh or a midfielder this guy can score goals

    • boswell says:

I wonder if that’s what Wenger told him when he signed him. If he did I’m surprised Park joined us.

    • GUN says:

Chamakh better than Park? I don’t think so.

  • Fuad says:

I even wonder and disappointed with wengers’ ignorance towards park when he hijacked him from lille and with his excellent performance of international games, He is always not understood with his ignorance but this is not good and when he is leaving 2 years to come

    • Krazy kool says:

he makes these goals against near shit teams like uae and such, these are equivelent to championship teams….he is good, but he needs to prove himself. We will get his chance in january, we have rvp now so no reason to put him on. And if he IS good, then we can pay the 10million to get him off military duty.

      • kakak42 says:

his goals may be against shit teams but he can score goals, chamakh, gervinho, walcott, arshavin all can’t score against teams just promoted from the championship or against teams like blackburn.

        • Krazy kool says:

its sensible wanting some players rushed in the team because of the disappointments and the fans are being frustrated, but there is a time for that, he will play but i believe wenger is right holding him off.

  • Kamal says:

to sell merchandise in asia perhaps

  • gt says:

It is indeed interesting that while J S Park is an integral part of the EPL champion, his national team captain, J Y Park, isn’t even on the bench of a mid-table team.

    • tanda says:

j s park is a retired captain…it’s not true tht park young is better than the j s park..can’t see him fitting in the first team straight away..even chamack scored on his international for his country..This is Epl not french league or asia cups..so he better be patient..

  • Ron says:

Disappointed can’t find OX in the squard

  • Malignant TB says:

Surely why did Wenger hijack Park from Lile? I thought this guy had some experience in French football, he ought to have been picked ahead of Chamakh

  • scarface says:

probably chamaks french is more fluent than parks own lol(sarcastic smile:) ) thats the only reason i see how chamks is gettin the nod ahead of park lol

  • Dimiru ethiopia says:

    Plese give chance to AOC.

  • Fuad says:

That is simply ignorance of wenger, how can he just hijack aplayer for nothing when he owes achance for aposition?

  • T2T says:

Based on this squad, who should start against Marseilles?

    Szczesny
    Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Santos
    Song, Arteta, Ramsey
    Benayoun, Chamakh, Arshavin

Having van Persie, Rosicky and Walcott on the bench as possible impact subs… I’d really like to see some sensible rotation but leaving Ox and Park at home did surprise me. This would be an excellent game to let them start and having the possibility to have both Walcott and van Persie fresh off the bench.

  • feeno says:

Maybe Park hasnt shown enough in training and Chamack has, just a thought, a guy who is only 2 months into his Arsenal career, some of you want to have a word with yourselves either being deliberately obtuse or just aren’t that bright

    • LFS says:

I remember reading somewhere, when Pires first came in (from League1’s Marseille) he was benched because Wenger wanted him to analyse and understand the English style of playing. Once Pires was clear and ready, then and only then, he stepped in and well, we all know the rest of the story.

      • Chris says:

Problem is that these two are not even on the bench.

As for the original comment, for what I know Alex may be skipping training, what I saw on the pitch is enough to expect him at least, at least, on the bench.

    • Ade Ajadi says:

There are many armchair coaches who now know better than a manager of over two decades especially about a player they have never seen train or even ever seen his medical report.

  • Aussie Jack says:

If Wenger just had the courtesy to tell us why he left them at home and what his plans are for them like “saving them for the Carling Cup” or “will be introduced before Christmas at home games”. I think the supporters have a right to know without giving away any trade secrets. He seems to enjoy the `guessing` game.

    • george rodger says:

So Wenger owes you an explanation does he?
      Get over yourself.

  • Rableje says:

Lol didn’t you see Park against Shrewsbury? He was absolutely terrible.

    • kakak42 says:

it was his first game for arsenal after 4 or 5 trainings after not having played a professional match for 2 months. Plus Chamakh was rated worse by the media afterwards anyway

      • davi says:

also, he was playing in a different position, and he wasn’t terrible, he was ok.

  • Stuart says:

If we go out of the Carling Cup, when will Rio, Park and Ox actually play Football for the Club, They will all be all Internationals not playing, Premiership games.

  • Little Mozart says:

Little Mozart.. or Little Aaron Ramsey? Hmm would go for Rosicky. Was great against Spain and continued his good form with Arsenal. Aaron needs a wake-up call, giving him some bench time while he is fit might do him good.

  • sam says:

wenger does what he likes at arsenal and not playing park and alex has nothing to do with his version of story. he just wants fans to get off his back.
first, theo is not ready to play in the middle his place is still on the wing. starting with alex will hinder his progress, well! its been 5 years arsene.
if park’s first game was bad what would you say about mertersacker and andre santos?
yes they are learning to settle in the premiership while gaining experience on the pitch not on the bench. how can you buy a backup for chamakh who’s not even a starter in the first place. as we know park can play anywhere in attack, oh walcott again! he cannot afford to bench him. or maybe arshavin.
the bottom line is these 2 are very good players that could lift the team but arsene’s favouritism stands in the way. wenger is not blind, just like the rest of us he knows that alex and park can do better than most of our first teamers. but an economist is also a politician he will tell you what you want to hear, next question please!
when we were being trashed by mancs at OT he sent the same kid on to try to rescue the game, funny dont you think?

  • Peter says:

There is a squad with a lot of players, If you always play the same ones, how can you be surprised to find a lot of players injured end of the season.

  • Scott says:

You guys should read everything, not just your own posts.
Park really struggled to settle in to the club, life and London early on.Wenger made the decision NOT to add the pressure of playing Premier League football for a while,in the best interests of Park.
I do hope this explains it adequately, and i do hope you read and absorb it.
I also wonder why I have no problems finding actual quotes from Wenger, explaining away stupid rumours, living 20,000 kilometres away from England.
Ignore the shit the media feeds you,and find the truth…….its all there.

    • LFS says:

Jeez Scott… Wenger should learn a thing or two from you. would you like to be our next manager?

      • davi says:

what are you talking about? He was talking about the things that wenger himself has been saying. This post is full of the most ridiculous comments.

  • don says:

its probably our strongest squad currently, but,i would like to see rosicky start in place of ramsey after the brilliant performance during the weekend, but knowing wenger he might just start ramsey despite his dismal performance this season, that’s why we never grow,he chooses the team on his preference not performance, this can kill his morale just like it did the first 4 games last season, wenger stubbed his morale.I would also like to see arteta up his game or subbed, change in formation and less predictability, and most definately be back with all three points.

  • jaihan says:

Why AW so stubborn……what for he by park then keep at bench….

  • ruelando says:

I am really getting a strong feeling that some of these players have something written in their contract in regards to their playing time, i agree we must use our most experience players for this game , but i would love to see the team which is put out there for the match at weekend, if i ont see ryo, ox and park then i can say something is definitely wrong

  • JELEMIA says:

we still need to know why park is not playing; is he not the star we were looking for?

  • Bradster says:

I read all your posts and I agree he needs time to settle in like all new players and that Park scored against teams that are low in the FIFA rankings.

I think it was not wise to hijack the transfer as we did, seeing that we want to deal with Lille in January for 2 more players. One being a striker anyway. I do not understand why Park was bought to play when Chamakh leaves as by then Wenger would’ve bought a top striker in the January transfer window if Hulk and other rumours are believable and they will have been regularly playing while Park will be rusty by not playing regularly for 5 months. I feel we’re also rubbing it in Lille’s face that we are willing to steal a player under their noses just to let him rot for 6 months where they needed him and would’ve used him regularly. Good luck Wenger with that Jan transfer dealings.

Comments on Park not ready, at least give him a chance on the bench and 15 mins on the pitch. I remember Pires on the bench just like Fab and they got their 15 mins in games.

I’m disappointed Wenger didn’t even give himself the option of AOC in the squad or on the bench in case he needs a change.

  • michael amuakwa says:

Have all of you forgotten that, it is Wenger that we are talking about. He is the only one who sees nothing wrong with his selection, since the beginning of the season. Clearly Arshavin is out of sorts, and the player himself admits it, yet Wenger continues to pick him ahead of all others.
My main worry is not over his selection tonight, but that which he will pick against stoke and Chelsea later. We are where we are, because of his selection. It is time, Wenger got a bit ambitious with his style of selection. Take Sir Alec for example, he constantly comes up with selections from his crop of players to suit a particular opponent, but with our Wenger, he always comes up with the same line up and substitution, thereby making us so predictable before our opponents.

Let us hope he changes his style, before his poor judgment drags us to the wrong half of the league table.

    • davi says:

This is how he’s always operated, and it’s brought us great success in the past.
The problem we face is about money. We can’t pick up the little gems for cheap, like we used to because everyone is imitating us, and most of them have more money. We can identify the next ljungberg, but now other clubs will find him too, and the price will go up massively.
The quality of other teams in the PL has risen dramatically as well, and we have had difficulty finding players who are not only good enough, but able to play enough games in a season to take us to the title.
I agree that we could improve things with some tactical adjustments, because I don’t think the current system suits the players and it makes it too easy for our opponents to make chances against us, but it’s not the only problem.
Also, I would have agreed with you more on arshavin 12 months ago, but just recently he’s started to pull it together a little, and is starting to look like he might get back to his old self (REALLY old self). He should have been discarded some time ago imo, but there’s no point in wasting all that time we’ve put into him if he can actually contribute something. He can be better than nasri was last year, if he get’s back to his best.

  • Emmanuel says:

Sometimes, I asked myself ” Is this man (Wenger) the right coach arsenal need? We don’t need a soft-spoken man. If he knows that park will be parked in arsenal why did he buy him? Can Park not talk? It is 2 months now, I had not see this man (park) in arsenal shirt.

  • pablo says:

There is a possibility that having Park, even in the squad, opens up a massive Asian market for merchandise. It’s a shame football has come to this, but if not the only reason, I would bet it helped the signing decision.

  • ndeshitiwa sem says:

pls wenger should give oxlade some minutes to add up on the exprience he have al else he will js go down en if van persie go we will stil strangle

  • Live Cannon says:

AW has identified a squad that is strong in CL away games and clearly Ox and Park don’t fit that mould. Against Olympiacos Ox was great plus a goal to boot but he was lost as the game progressed and he was weak in defence. Park could do with 15 mins on the bench but I guess the space is limited for this game.

We need to remember too that we are fighting on all four fronts (especially in EPL to be among the top 4) and the games will come thick and fast. We need a big squad that can work together. My take is that Park will be eased in through the Carling cup, substitute in EPL and full blown player in FA.

As for the team put out today, I think AW should use VP, Walcott, Djourou as the key subs. Start off Chamakh, Gervinho and Arshavin upfront, Rosicky, Song and Arteta midfield, with instructions to Rosicky to back up Jenkinson’s wing defensively.

We still have Stoke to worry about and we need a fresh VP, sharper Ox and a geling defence.

  • Carmelo Pace malta says:

in my humble opinion,i used to have faith in mr wenger, not any more, where kids are concerned, why the heck he brought ruo back? he was playing amazing football, for feyonord, and you ruined his chances of keeping the improvement, and park,? its no big deal that he will be on national service in two years time, and even if he turns up to be a big hit( something by the way things are turning out ) its sure not to happen,he’ll come back being 30,waste of money, and the poor bloke, robbed of his football, and aoc, why,an other thing, you dont need to be a football wizard to notice that for his age he is 100% better than than that DONKEY walcott.any sane kid with a future should avoid ARSENAL if he wants to reach his milestone

  • Aliyu says:

Arsenal will need a winning spirit at the stade velodrome tonight, i predict arsenal will win by 2 goals to nill.
    up young goons 4 ever.
    Aliyu

  • RodGoonerInTtown says:

I know Park is older and more experienced than Vela, but IMO Wenger stopped the progress in Carlos’ career, just look at what he did for Mexico, his goals were quality and in the Carling cup a couple of years ago, his crosses, but something kept him from the lineup, could it be the language barrier?? Maybe Park never learned french…it sounds absurd but one gotta think why this happens to good players at Arsenal. Now Vela doesnt even get called by De la Torre for Mexico games and thats sad

  • Ji says:

As a Korean I had an idea that this would happen when Park decided to join arsenal instead of lille. At least in lille he would’ve had playing time instead of pondering if he’s even going to make the bench.

Park/Ox will get their time, probably in the CL/FA in order to give rvp some rest.

As for chamakh, if he doesn’t step it up for this match, then its good bye for him after being in poor form for so long.

Also its a bad idea to think that koreans will buy t-shirt/other arsenal products just because PCY got signed. The main reason why Man U is more popular than any k-league team is not just because PJS is playing there, but because its one of the best FC in the world. Heck, bolton/hamburg/sunderland isn’t even really popular in korea even though they have popular korean players.
