Rosicky: Group win is pivotal, we cannot mess up like last year

Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky believes that the Gunners will bounce back and fight for a Top Four finish, this season.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s Champions League game in France against Olympique Marseille, the Czech International explained that the season start was not easy for the Gunners but it’s a long season and there are still many games to be played, reason why the objective of the players will again be, like previous seasons, to fight for the top places.
Asked about tonight’s game, the 31-year old confessed that last seasons the Gunners “messed up” after taking a comfortable lead in their Group and how therefore they have to be more focused this year.
Rosicky concluded by saying that Didier Deschamps’ side should not be underestimated as they are strong and will ultimately battle with Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund to qualify from Group F of the competition.
Ahead of the game, Rosicky said:
It was a very difficult start for us but the season is very long and I don’t feel it is impossible for us.
In this league, every game is very difficult and you have to fight very hard. Arsenal is a great club that always has to play for the top four.
Even if we started badly, it must still be our aim. We need to start something positive.
I think that’s what we have started already – we had some solid results at home and that is the base. In this league everything must be built on your home form so that is what we are doing right now.
Sometimes it takes time. When five players come in, in one day it is never easy.
We have to get used to each other – and all of them are showing they are good players. It will be better and better when we gel more together.
[The Champions League?] It must be our aim to win the group, especially after what happened to us last year when we were not top of the group. In the last three games we messed up.
Marseille are a direct contender for us who would like to qualify from the group as well.
It’s a big game and we want to be successful there. It looks like it will be between us, Dortmund and Marseille so it will be a vital game for us.
