Theo Walcott, “The obvious positive from this was keeping a clean sheet”

Arsenal midfielder Theo Walcott was disappointed after the goalless draw against Olympique Marseille but also happy that the Gunners were very solid in the defensive department.
Speaking after the game, the Englishman declared that the Gunners were disappointed after the game as they failed to move the ball smoothly as they did against Chelsea adding that they were however satisfied as they knew it was going to be a tough battle against the French side and how therefore the clean sheet kept during the 90 minutes should be taken as a positive.
Asked if the draw was the result of fatigue following the game at Stamford Bridge, the 22-year old revealed that the derby did take a lot out of the players but also that back-to-back games are to be expected at this stage of the season.
On Saturday, the Gunners will be back in action as they will host West Bromwich Albion at the Emirates Stadium, keeping in mind that the Baggies did exceptionally well when facing Arsenal, last season.
After the OM draw, Walcott said:
It was always going to be tough. Obviously a lot of people are still thinking about that game at the weekend, but Marseille are a strong team. The obvious positive from this was keeping a clean sheet.
It’s disappointing that we didn’t score any goals considering the amount we got at the weekend but you can’t score all the time. It was probably a fair result in the end.
You had to give credit to Marseille at times; they came here, did a job and used the width of the pitch very well.
We found it tough at times to retain the ball, but you can’t always play like we did at the weekend.
As long as we didn’t lose – it’s been a lot of games since we have – that’s another good positive.
Saturday did take a lot out of us, but we know what to expect in the Champions League.
We play every week now. [Marseille] are a very strong team. We found it quite tough out there as well. But, again, like I said before, we were very strong at the back.
