Arsenal defender Andre Santos revealed that English football is different than what he was used to but is adapting well in his new role.
The former Corinthians and Fenerbahçe man was one of the so-called “panic signings” made by the Gunners in last summer’s transfer window and after spending some time on the bench he secured a regular place in Arsene Wenger’s starting eleven after taking advantage of yet another injury suffered by young Kieran Gibbs, out with a stomach problem.
On the other new signings, the Brazilian declared that all of them have done well to integrate in the Frenchman’s formation adding that the Arsenal team is quality as he hopes to be one of the players to make a difference in the team.
Already on target twice including a very important goal away from home against Chelsea, the 28-year old concluded by saying that the Gunners deserve to be in the Top Four and how their objective is to keep improving in order to continue their rise to the top.
On his first months at Arsenal, Santos said:
English football is indeed very different. But I’m adapting well, I’m getting used to playing more at the back and reading the game better.
But I will still go forward if I have the opportunity. I think all our new signings integrated really well into the team, the squad is of high quality and I hope to make a difference to Arsenal’s campaign.
The top four is where Arsenal deserves to be. It’s an excellent club, one that has been home to many great players, with an outstanding manager and a great squad.
I hope we can improve with every round to climb the table and keep pushing forward.

When Santos fully adapts to English football, I just can’t see Gibbs getting a lot of game time. Which is a shame considering such a young player was thrown into the deep end and expected to perform week in week out and did a fair job considering. I’d be interested to see how Santos would go in a more attacking role, however that’d be unlikely considering the amount of midfielders and wingers in the squad already…
