Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that he has no fresh injury concerns as the Gunners prepare for today’s game against West Brom.
Speaking to Arsenal Player on Thursday, the Frenchman declared that the injury situation is not bad after three months of action as he explained that striker Marouane Chamakh is out with “a little inflammation in his knee” and will miss today’s game as well as Internationals which is bad news for the striker who was hoping to enjoy time on the pitch with his national side.
On Kieran Gibbs, the Arsenal boss added that the Englishman will also miss today’s game as he’s yet to recover from his stomach problem but should be available, like Chamakh, after the International break.
And on Abou Diaby, Wenger concluded by saying that he suffered a setback and will not be back before the end of the month with Fulham in May being the last game in which the Frenchman featured for the Gunners.
On injuries, Wenger said:
[New injuries?] There are none, basically. We have no injuries from Tuesday night which is very positive.
Apart from long-term injuries we have only Chamakh and Gibbs out at the moment. Going into November that’s not too bad.
Often we have had good starts and then a little drop in November. This season we didn’t have a very good start and hopefully we can go from strength to strength as we are doing at the moment.
[Marouane Chamakh] has a little inflammation in his knee. There is a little effusion and he will not be available for Saturday.
I think he will miss the international games as well. Hopefully he should be ready again after the international break.
[Kieran Gibbs] is not available for Saturday as well. He is progressing normally, a bit slower than expected but there’s a chance he might be available after the international break.
[Abou Diaby] is getting better now but he’s still three weeks away, I think, so yes [he will be back after the international break].
